5 ways to make your fave meals vegetarian

If there was ever a day to try out being vegetarian, it would definitely be Earth Day. Vow to go green on this day, not just by turning off lights and taking shorter showers, but by eating more sustainable, meatless meals.

 

If you’ve never gone a day without eating meat and find the idea of it to be absurd, then take this as a challenge. It may be difficult, but you’ll be surprised by how motivated you will be when you accept it as the GL-Dares-Ya challenge it is. Plus, with a few simple switches, you can turn your fave meat-ful meals into delicious vegetarian dishes. Check out our fave switch-a-roos below:

 

Instead of chicken parm...try eggplant parm

Chicken covered with cheese and marinara sauce has to be one of the best meat meals ever created, but it is really easy to switch this to a vegetarian meal. Simply swap the chicken for eggplant. With all the cheese and sauce, you won’t even notice that the chicken is out of the picture. Plus, most restaurants already offer this as an option, making it a go-to indulgent Italian dish.

 

Instead of chicken stir-fry…try tofu stir-fry

A stir-fry is already full of really good veggies. Throw in some tofu and leave out the chicken or beef to make it a totally delicious vegetarian recipe. Tofu really doesn’t taste like anything, so once you sauté it with soy sauce, garlic, red pepper flakes and some hot chili sauce, it will be the best thing you have ever tasted.

 

Instead of beef lasagna…try spinach lasagna

Layers and layers of noodles, cheese, sauce and…spinach? Yup, forget the beef and reach for some spinach in this classic dish that everyone loves! The spinach makes this a veggie dish, gives you tonsa nutrients and you won’t even taste it because of all the other delicious ingredients.

 

Instead of a hamburger…try a black bean burger

Heading to a cookout? Opt for a black bean burger. This is probably the easiest switch because there are so many frozen veggie burgers to choose from if you don’t wanna DIY it. Pick up a package and have your parents throw it on the grill for you. Don’t forget about the toppings!

 

Instead of beef chili…try three-bean chili

Warm, spicy beef chili can make any day better. Except, of course, a day when you’re trying to be a vegetarian. Ditch the beef and triple the amount of beans in the chili. For a flavor boost, toss in our fave trio: black, red and pinto beans.

Actually,I already do some of this. I'm semi-vegetarian, so I only eat poultry and fish for meats. Black bean burgers are actually pretty good. I've had them before a lot.
It's not as hard as you think to go meatless for a day, and for me, going semi-vegetarian isn't that bad. Because turkey is better for you, there are so many turkey options that you won't miss your beef or pork much at all.
By now, it's been long enough since I've actually eaten pork or beef that I get sick when I eat it, so I don't have much incentive to do so.

Actually @Topaz1116 there are many different types of vegetarians. Some vegetarians eat eggs and other dairy products (lacto-ovo) and some eat fish. (Pescetarian) others eat poultry and not fish or meat (pollotarian) there are so many different types of vegetarians out there and many are misinformed about it. I am a pescetarian and that's how I get my protein. From tuna and salmon. A 6 oz can of tuna actually has 40 grams of protein.

I've been veggie with no eggs (but I'm not vegan, I still drink milk) my whole life and if you know what they did to the animals, you'd wanna be one too. They drive bars through cow's heads at the most HUMANE factories. They make hens lay eggs nonstop and when they can't lay anymore, they kill them. It's sickening...

all last summer i was a vegetarian, but it was so hard because my family loves eating steak and stuff...so since i didn't eat the steak and beef and stuff i don't really like it..so now i only like ground turkey or fresh turkey off the bird lol, pepperoni, hot dog and chicken

I do gymnastics 12 hours a week, and lately my body hurts really bad whenever I'm doing anything. My lower back kills, my shoulder hurts, my hip makes it hard to run, my knees kill when I walk around afterwards, and my ankle hurts. I love gym, but it's not fun at all when everything hurts like it does. I can't preform my best, and it's just so painful. I feel like my body is giving up on me. What should I do?
PS I keep getting injured to the point where I have to take three week breaks. My hamstring almost tore off my bone, and I've torn several ligaments in my ankle as well as havinh a broken toe right now...




hey girly! it sounds like you should really talk to your trainer and coach and see whats up. after long and hard workouts though ice baths are really good for helping with aches and pains and will help make you not so sore the following day

Mod mod mod! i need n answer quick!
so today at school i think i got my period. it was brownish and a little dark red. i put on a panty liner but that was around 1:00. since then i have only had a little bit of blood (i mean a tiny bit) except for when i wipe after i use the bathroom i see blood (when i pee) like from earlier. first of all do i even have my period because i haven't been crampy or moody! i have had discharge for about 1 year though and my body is mature! also, why isn't any more blood coming? is this normal?!?! help!




Hey girlie,

Periods start off slow normally, then your flow gets heavier as the days pass. It's almost definitely your period, so keep an eye on it and adjust your protection (pantyliner, pad, etc.) according to your flow. Don't panic - this is totally normal! Some girls even get their periods for a day and it stops because it's normal for your period to be irregular at first. And yep, sometimes you don't notice cramps/mood swings either - totally annoying because it can catch you off guard, but it's all normal! <3

Not a Vegetarian but Black bean burgers are great! You should try them if you haven't, they add spice and flavor great for alternatives at a BBQ!

Take the stairs more than once. When you’re at home, run up and down the stairs three or four times before heading to your room. It’s a sneaky way to stay active.
