10 gorge ways to go green

Check these out, too...

  • Get gorgeous spring date night makeup
  • Beauty Spy: Fresh faced and simple Ann Marie E.
Earth Day is coming up soon. To celebrate all that is glam and green, we’ve rounded up our fave beauty products that are just as good for you as they are for Mother Nature.

We heart palettes, we do. The problem? Running out of one color before the rest and tossing the compact once they’re all done. The solution? Pandora’s Makeup Box customizable and eco-chic palettes. No empty shades, no throwing away. Brilliance and beauty in one cute package.

Pandora’s Pretty Party Pack in Medium, $48, pandorasmakeupbox.com

A good cleansing routine shouldn’t leave your face – or the globe – grimy. Good For You Girls’ three-step skincare line has all-natural and organic ingredients for soft and healthy skin.

Good For You Girls – The Complete Skin Care Kit, $20, goodforyougirls.com

So long, lumpy, gunky mascara! Nvey’s moisturizing mascara, made with organic jojoba oil and beeswax, will leave your lashes lush, long and lovely, not brittle like most. Bat your eyes away, girl.

Nvey Eco Organic Mascara, $25, amazon.com

Tarte’s lightweight and long-lasting lip sheer has all of the good – even yummy sounding  – stuff, like coconut oil and mango butter, without the icky junk, like mineral oils or parabens.

24/7 lip sheer in Twilight, $10, tartecosmetics.com

You can’t get the long locks without the strong strands. To get that healthy – and eventually longer – hair, turn to Not Your Mother’s all natural shampoo and conditioner. It’s chock-full of vitamins and organic herbs for total follicle nourishment.

Not Your Mother’s Way To Grow Shampoo, $6, drugstore.com

With all the nail art designs on your pinboards, you’re going to have to invest in quality lacquers. That means polishes without the “toxic trio”: formaldehyde, dibutyl phthalate (DBP) and toluene. Butter London has plenty of “three-free” colors to boast, including this glittery pink perf for spring.

Disco Biscuit, $14, butterlondon.com

Kudos for getting the glow without the dangerous tanning salon sesh, girl. For extra eco-friendly snaps, opt for Physicians Formula bronzer without parabens or synthetic fragrances. Plus, it’s cruelty free.

Organic wear™ 100% Natural Origin Bronzer, $14, physiciansformula.com

Split ends becoming your biggest foe? Spritz your strands with a trusty thermal protectant spray before the ol’ "blow dry then straighten" routine. Make sure it’s one without harsh sulfates or phthalates, otherwise it’ll do more wrecking than protecting.

Alterna Bamboo Smooth Anti-Breakage Thermal Protectant Spray, $24, ulta.com

Always a GL fave, Burt's Bees doesn’t disappoint with their hypoallergenic and fragrance-free body lotion. Slather on the creamy and organic shea butter blend, and give a sigh of relief that your delicate skin won’t be soaking in any irritants.

Fragrance Free Shea Butter & Vitamin E Body Lotion, $13, burtsbees.ca

Yup, even taking off your makeup should be earth-friendly, too. Eminence’s calming and all-natural concoction is filled with spa-approved ingredients, like cucumber, green tea and lavender extracts. Ahh…

Eminence Herbal Eye Make-Up Remover, $28, dermstore.com

Hey, I'm deciding to go vegan for Earth Day. If I make it through the day I'm going to try and become a full vegan. I found out today that Johnson and Johnson(or Clean and Clear, my favorite) tests on animals. My shampoo and conditioner company doesn't, nor does my detangler. The powder I use on my face is not tested by animals. Can you help me find a good foundation, mascara, lipgloss/lip balm(I currently use Burt's Bees, but vegans can't use ANYTHING animal related), facewash, and face lotion that is natural and doesn't test on animals? I don't want to have to buy it offline for a billion dollars, but I want something I can buy at Walmart or Target. Thank you!

Hey girlie,

Try checking out PETA's website where you can get a list of cruelty-free companies, aka companies that don't test on animals! If you use the second drop down menu, you can search by product type - makeup, soap, etc Smile

So there is this guy i like, and he happens to be one of my Bff's brothers... she knows and says that she's ok with it, but i still feel awkward when im near him when hanging out with her. Should make a move? Should i just forget it? Or should i just wait to see if he makes a move? Help!

Hey girlie,

If she's ok with it, you shouldn't feel awkward at all! It's great you've talked to her about it already, so try to relax Smile Instead of making a move right away, try talking to him more and flirting a little bit. Compliment him, get to know him better as friends, joke around, etc. Grow closer and see how it goes! Smile

a few minutes ago, i had a tickle in my thorat, coughing didnt clear it and neither did drinking water.but soon, it went away. then when i was brushing my teeth about five minutes after that i clear my throat, spit, and some blackish mucus came out. is this oaky? should i be extremely worried? if it keeps happening ill see a doctor but do you know what it could be?
sorry for grossness haha and thank you soo much!

Hey Girlie,

You should definitely talk to your parents and go see a doctor if it happens again! I'm not really sure what it could be but there's no need to freak out (yet)! Please be sure to talk to someone, though!
