My sister ran away. What should I do?

My 15-year-old sister ran away. I know where she is, but I’m afraid to tell because I don’t want to get in trouble.

Dear Confused,

This is a serious situation. Rather than keep silent, reveal your sister’s whereabouts to a parent, or talk to a school counselor, psychologist, clergyperson, relative or some trusted adult who can help. I realize you don’t want to tattle on your sister, but if she’s in danger, speaking up can make a difference—or even save her life.

MOD MOD PLEASE HELP!!
Dear Mod, I have a friend, i will call her A. A is bisexual (only me and one other girl know) and she hates her life. She is anorexic and I think might have suicidal thoughts. The counselor at our school isn't the best and hasn't helped in the past. Me and several other of our friends( they sit with me and her at lunch) want to help. I was thinking that I could tell the counselor through a note and give her an email address that is shared under all the people who want to help. Do you think this is a good idea??

hey! cut out all the other people and just have it be between you and the counselor. There's no need to make a spectacle of the whole thing.

MOD MOD MOD! Okay well my mom's being very mean. She got mad at me for not bringing in the groceries and so i felt guilty and i brought in the milk. She got mad at me and was sending mixed signals about things. Anyway in the end she called me a brat and when i replied that she was a B ( i didn't say the whole word just B) She said i couldn't go on a date with my boyfriend tonight! It is the last time i see my boyfriend for a month because i am going away. How do i make it up to her and tell her that i was trying to defend myself and help her the whole day before hand. Thankyou Smile

Hey girlie,

The thing is, she probably was a having a bad day... and WAS taking it out on you. That's not the right thing to do. But you also crossed the line by letting your temper get the best of you. You called her a name and, even though she tested you all day long, she's the mom - you gotta control your anger and keep that name-calling in your head. That's the only way to prove to her that you're mature and in charge of your emotions. If you lash out, you get yourself in trouble because you HAVE done something disrespectful. But if you ignore it and walk away while she calms down, you show her you're taking the high road. Unfortunately you probably won't be able to fix things in time to hang out with him tonight, but give apologizing a try. Even though she didn't act 100% nice either, swallow your pride and say, "I'm really sorry I let my temper out and called you a bad name. I didn't mean it and I apologize. If there's anything I can do to help out and make your day less stressful, let me know." She MIGHT ease up on you... but you might also have to pay the price for saying what you did <3

MOD MOD MOD MOD
My brother is so mean, and he won't listen to when I say he's CROSSING THE LINE!!! He even used a dog whistle to torment my sister's dog who was in his cage. I just want him to listen!!! What should I do?

Hey girl, unfortunately, it's only natural that your brother is mean to you. It takes boys a while to mature, so he might not change for another few years. Try doing something fun with him so that he sees you as a friend, rather than his "annoying sister." If he's really bothering you, you should have a talk with your parents and explain to them that he's hurting your feelings. It will get better as you get older, trust me!
