Sick of the whole breakfast-in-bed deal? Mix up Mother’s Day
with a sweet spring party that’s packed with girls-only fun. The plan? Invite
your besties and the moms over for an afternoon of tasty treats, laughter and
fun in the sun. What could be better than that?
Invite the crew—and the moms, too!
Nail down the deets now so your pals can pencil your party
into their schedule. Make it known that you girls are the ones in charge—Mom
doesn’t have to lift a finger! Invite a group that will get along. The girls
you’ve known forever and the mothers your mama knows pretty well is a perf
start. Keeping the list short will give your party an intimate, cozy feel.
Get plannin’
Ask your girls to get together for a planning sesh. Since
Mom won’t be lifting a finger on her day, it’s up to you guys to see to the
details, and that means everything from décor and essentials (flowers,
streamers, balloons, cups and plates) to food and drinks. Ask everyone to pitch
in by taking charge of one of the areas. When it comes to munchies, potluck it,
or having a cookin’ cutie come over early to give you a hand in the kitchen.
Delish bites
You don’t have to go nuts—your moms will be impressed with
whatever you serve them. Opt for food that doesn’t have to be kept warm or be
babied, like tea sandwiches, cheese and crackers and fresh fruit. Cupcakes,
bite-sized brownies and cookies are easy to eat, mess-free and delicious.
Sweet sips
Everyone likes a fruity drink, so whip up a few pitchers of
beverage choices. Ice water, lemonade and iced tea are easy, but you can mix it
up with our fave cranberry cucumber spritzer, too. CLICK HERE for the recipe.
Afternoon fun
Leave cameras out on the table for everyone to snap pics all
afternoon, but plan for some organized fun after ya eat. Croquet with
mother-daughter teams or badminton with moms against daughters are fun ways to
while away the time in the bright sunshine.
