Check these out, too...
That’s what some education experts are hoping for in the not-too-distant future, the Washington Post reports. They’re calling it a “full day” of school—though why they think 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. isn’t long enough to be called a “full day,” we’re not entirely clear on. Anyway, the notion is that the extra two or three hours could help American students be competitive with students abroad. The time could be used for longer classes, tutoring and one-on-one time with teachers.
What do you think of this proposition, babes? Is it a step in the right direction or too much time in the classroom? And if they did add a few more hours to the school day, how should they be spent?

POSTED IN school, In the News
I go to an alternitive school, and our hours are from 7:45-4:45. The day goes by so fast, its like there is no difference between normal schools and mine. I personally love the longer hours because I get more time to work with teachers and understand the lessons. I do really well in school because of the longer hours, and I think that other people are just freaking out too much. You will always have time to do your extra curricular things-I do-and the longer hours really enable you to learn and have fun more. Just because it's against the normal does not mean it is bad. You just have to try it first.

I do not agree with that. While I do believe that America should have more school, I would kill myself before going for 12 hrs a day. A far better solution would be to just get rid of all of those random and stupid break days(not like summer vacay, but like those random "prep day" whatevers) They should just make summer vacation 2 months instead of three. NO! we're already counting down the minutes to get out of school everyday...so why distract us more? It's gonna make us learn less because we're gonna be SOO tired from the day before! And then we still gotta go home and do homework, then we can't do any extra-curriculars except if it's with the school!!! NO! keep it the way it is or shorten it!!
