She’s
appeared in shows like
The Suite Life of
Zack and Cody, and now 15-year-old
Cierra
Ramirez is taking the lead in the upcoming flick
Girl in Progress, hitting
theaters
May 11.
The
movie revolves around Ansiedad (Cierra Ramirez), who just wants to be older.
Her single mother, Grace (Eva Mendes), is busy working all the time, leaving
Ansiedad plenty of alone time to figure out her life. Well, at least try to.
The flick follows her on her quest to figure out who she is, who she wants to
be and whether being older is really what
she wants.
The
perfect Mother’s Day outing, we can’t wait to catch the flick. And we were just
as pumped to chat up its rising star. Here, Cierra spills all about her own
mom. Awww…
GL:
Why should every girl check out Girl In Progress?
Cierra: Anyone can
relate to it—daughters and mothers. There is a ton of fashion and Ansiedad goes
through so many changes, from nerdy to bad girl. I got to [see] it with my mom
and we bonded after watching it.
Did you bond with
your on-screen mom, Eva Mendes, while filming?
Yes.
She was always making bets with me. She bet that I wouldn’t eat a whole packet
of mayonnaise and made it a big deal so like everyone was watching and I ate
that thing. You can’t make a bet with me because I will do it.
What’s
the best piece of advice that your mom has ever given you?
To
just be the best me that I could possibly be and not depend on anyone else’s
approval.
What
about one of the most embarrassing things she’s ever done to you?
When
we’re in the car with friends and there is music, she will make it a point to
sing every line. I don’t know how, but she memorizes every line of a rap song.
She’s big on Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj. It’s embarrassing!
That’s hilarious! Aside from rap, what’s one song that
always reminds you of your mom?
“The
Best Day” by Taylor Swift. I have been through all of that with my mom at one
point. Taylor just finds a way to let me relate to everything. There is always
a Taylor Swift song for a mood you’re in.
What
about one movie you love watching with her?
Any
Nicholas Sparks movie. We are both very emotional. We can’t go through any of
those without crying.
If you could snag something from your mom’s closet right
now, what would you take?
I
constantly steal her scarves. And she has lots of cool jewelry.
