Help! I'm the annoying friend

 

 

I’m notorious for being annoying. I like it, I’m known for it and it fits me. The only thing is that my friends don’t like it at all. I’m moving soon, and I’m worried I won’t make friends because of my weird personality. Sometimes I’m calm, but mostly I’m like the Energizer Bunny. Is that bad?

 

 

Dear Energizer Bunny,

It’s good to be energetic and content with yourself. It’s not so good to grate on your friends’ nerves. Since you’ll be starting fresh in a new school, why not try toning down a bit so you can make the most of the opportunity to meet new friends? Notice when others seem to enjoy your company vs. when they seem to back off.

 

Your personality and behavior aren’t absolute givens—after all, you do have some control. People like girls who laugh and have spunk, but if you’re laughing like a hyena and bouncing like a bunny, rein your actions in a bit so people will find you animated—not annoying.

first i would like to write that the girl's story up there is the story of my life! which brings me to the fact that people keep trying to change me. i hate it a lot. For instance am a messy person. My teachers complain and so does my mother. it's not really bugging anyone but me. what should i do. i can't help who i am, or can i?

Hey girl,

If teachers and parents are telling you to be less messy, they aren't changing your personality, or who you are. They're trying to help you break a bad habit so you will be more organized in later life! You can definitely be neater if you try, so set goals for yourself of parts of your room, locker etc. to clean.

It is different for everyone and can be scary the first time, but once you get the hang of it, you'll be fine. I'm sure your bf is as nervous as you are!
