Just because you’re jumpin’ in the car with the fam for some
good ol’ roadtrippin’ doesn’t mean ya have to pack on the pounds. Sure, it’s
fun to splurge at some fancy restaurants or dig in to a li’l fast food, but
that doesn’t mean your at-home healthy habits have to be tossed out the window.
Here are four steps to help ya stay on track…
Have a Cook In
Of course your fam is gonna go out to eat when you’re far
away from the comforts of your own kitchen. But don’t run to a restaurant for
every meal. If the place you’re stayin’ at has a kitchen, have everyone pitch
in to help cook a nice family dinner together. Fresh, homemade foods are better
for your bod than stuff from restaurants, which may include extra salt and
other additives. Playing chef also offers portion control as an added bonus.
Keep It Real
It’s vacation, so of course you can have some treats. But if
you’re diggin’ dessert after every meal and skippin’ out on the green stuff,
you need to rethink your definition of “fun.” You don’t have to stress over it,
but keep a tally in the back of your mind about how many veggies versus
desserts you’ve had. When the greens start getting left in the dust, you know
you need to prioritize a little better.
Pack Light
When you’re jumpin’ in the car or on a plane headed for
adventure city, don’t forget to pack yourself some healthy snacks. If you end
up runnin’ on empty, you’re most likely to stop for fast food, and that will
not make your bod happy. So instead of grabbing a greasy burger and fries, keep
on hand fresh foods from home, like carrot sticks, bananas, and celery with
peanut butter.
Stick to Your Sched
At home, you usually munch on snacks throughout the day and
keep your main meals small. But while you’re on the go with the fam, you’re
missin’ out on your midday nomming. So instead of ending up starved and pigging
out when mealtimes roll around, try to keep up your usual routine. Don’t just
skip meals or snacks because your bro is doin’ it – if you need a little
somethin’ to keep yourself from binging later, speak up, sistah!
So babes, what do you
do to stay active and healthy on your vacays?
