Go hippy with homemade henna

Want to try some temporary tattoos this summer? Henna is your new BFF. It’s a paste-like substance that can be applied to temporarily stain your skin. GL found the perfect recipe for homemade henna that everyone can use.  It washes off in about a week and is totally pain free (unlike real tattoos!). You can make any designs you want with it (the more the better!). Celebs like Vanessa Hudgens and Katy Perry adore this easy boho look. They’ve been caught rockin’ it all over the red carpet.

What you’ll need:

1 cup water

2 teaspoons of coffee (black tea works, too)

3 teaspoons of sifted henna powder

1 teaspoon of eucalyptus oil

What you’ll do:

Step 1: Boil the water. Add 2 teaspoons of coffee to boiling water. Let it rest for a few hours, then use a strainer to remove coffee grounds.  Put henna powder and eucalyptus oil in another bowl. Don't mix it!

Step 2: Add coffee to bowl of henna and oil. For best results, transfer the coffee in spoonfuls.  Instead of mixing ingredients together, press liquid into powder and oil with spoon.

Step 3: Let paint set for at least six hours, and no more than twelve. You want the henna dye to have the consistency of toothpaste.

Step 4: Apply the henna! Go crazy with cool patterns. Try applying to your feet, hands and even stomach. Have fun!

For people worried about it staining, once it dries and starts to flake off (which takes a couple hours, at least. And don't pick it off!!!) then it won't stain anything. I've had henna done a lot, and even walking around an amusement park in 100 degree weather plus humidity, it didn't stain anything. (except for one time it rubbed off on my shorts while still wet, but it washed out.) Just do it in the middle of the day, that way it has time to dry before you go to sleep or shower. Oh, and don't wash over it! Be really careful when washing your hands not to get soap on the tattoo, or it won't last as long as it should. Lynae P.

Hey susmita24, I understand why your annoyed that everyone is getting henna tattoos. It is something that belongs to your culture and has an important meaning. I'm sorry that people don't understand that. Xoxo

Moderator!
I have a complaint bout this. This henna or yu can say mendhi aren't tattoos, they are wore for holidays for Hinduism, lyk how I am a Hindu. These aren't hippy stuff, it's decorations for your hand specially during WEDDINGS!! HINDU WEDDINGS! If yu still don't get it, go look up Hinduism, henna/mendhi online...Smile Also instead of making henna( WHICH AINT HOMEMADE..SORRY 2 BURST YUR BUBBLES)...havve relatives living in India and they'll send yu henna/mendhi from there! ;] It's very simple tht way, no offense!
