I wear makeup… To school and when hanging out with friends, but not at home

My best beauty tips:  I use lemon juice as my toner, and honestly, that cleared up my acne better than any expensive store-bought product. Also, eat healthy and exercise everyday -- you'll feel and look great!

I paint my toenails a lot and even though I use a base coat my nails are starting to stain and turn a little yellowish. What are some things I can do to help reverse this/prevent it from getting worse.




Hey girlie,

Give your toenails time to breathe! Try not to leave nail polish on too long, and don't repaint as soon as you remove the nail polish. Go polish-free for at least 24 hours in between - that way, your nails can breathe and stay healthier Smile And remember, red-based nail polishes can tint our nails yellow even after the nail polish has been removed. It wears away, but it can look super funky! Yuck!

I am allowed to wear makeup now that i am in middle school, but i need makeup that doesn't give me pimples, because they run in my fam. and also makeup that isn't tested on animals! What makeup brand should I use?

 

Hey girlie!  Good for you for wanting to make sure your makeup hasn't been tested on animals!  Lots of sites, like PETA, have complete lists of companies that test their products on animals so people just like you can avoid using their products.  As for the pimples, that might take a little bit of trial and error.  Look for hypoallergenic makeups.  Unfortunately, some people have problems with makeup, even if it's meant to be good for your skin, so be patient and if the brand you're using makes your skin break out, try a different brand until you find one that works.  You can also ask your mom what she used, that might help you narrow down the choices.  Good luck! xoxo

Recently I had a little bikini 'mishap'. Basically, the top fell off while I was walking around, luckily no one actually saw. But, to take extra precaution, I really want to get a new top and keep the same bottoms, because in August I am going to a huge pool party. What type of bikini is the most secure, like what type of clasp or tie up? Thank you.




Hey girlie,

Personally, I like fuller coverage bikinis that tie around the neck with a clasp in the back. That means avoiding sliding triangle tops - go for a top with cups and a regular bikini bottom without any ties at all. I also avoid tops with rings or other details that hold together the "boob panels" because, one time at the pool, one of my bikinis had a plastic ring that cracked. That made my top fly open.... oops! Smile

My eyebrows are completely terrible and I want them shaped. I casually brought it up to my mom and she said she doesn't want to pay money for something I can do myself. I haven't done anything yet and they look so terrible, I really want to. Do you think it's a bad idea? Or, do you have any tips/tutorials that I could see? Thanks for the advice, I don't want to do anything before advice because I am so nervous to mess up my face.

It's the best when you can go to a pro for the first time so they can help you define the best shape for your face but, if that's not an option, don't sweat it - plenty of chicas pluck their own eyebrows and they look perfectly fine! Smile

Hey girl, if you've got a lot of flyaways that ya wanna calm down, you can try putting some shine serum on a toothbrush and combing them down. Just make sure you get a toothbrush with soft bristles. But if you're dyin' to get rid of those pesky hairs, the only ways you can do that are by shaving, waxing, or using a hair removing cream.

if i wear concealer to cover up imperfections on a daily basis will it age my face faster or somehow damage my skin?
i really want to know because i want to start wearing some makeup but knowing I'm not going to mess up my skin.

Hey babe, concealer itself shouldn't damage your skin. Be careful when you're putting it on, though, to be gentle. And every night, use makeup remover to completely get rid of the stuff so your skin can breathe. Then you should be fine to wear it daily if you really want to.
