'Fess Up: Are you too picky when it comes to guys?


 
My relationships never last long. I’ve never been dumped—I always dump my BFs. Two weeks is the longest I’ve had a boyfriend. I’m too picky and expect a guy to be perfect. If he ignores me when he’s hanging with his friends, I usually break up with him. Is that bad? Should I give a guy more chances?


Dear Picky,

Not every relationship is supposed to go the distance. But you’re asking for trouble if you expect perfection or want a guy to pay attention to you every second. Give him breathing room. A boyfriend should not act as if you’re invisible, but it’s healthy for him to hang with his friends and for you to spend time with yours. You could also tell him how you feel rather than dumping him. Is it possible you’re the one who needs some space? Consider taking a vacation from the whole boyfriend thing, even a short one, while you figure out what you’re looking for. Going with someone can be fun, but not when you’re changing BFs as often as you’re changing socks.

im tall, i have blonde hair and blue eyes and play soccer, basketball, and softball. I talk to the guys at the school, but they all just ignore me. Do you have any advice for me? I really want a bf this year!

Hey girl! Try striking up a convo with a guy who plays one of your sports.  You'll have tons to talk about!  Once you've chatted with him for awhile, be friendly, but not flirty (unless he's flirting with you).  Focus on being friends with guys and once you've tackled that, move on to flirting with them! xoxo

There is this guy who i really like. He was on my brothers baseball team and he was reaaly nice and hot. I think he may have liked me, at least a little, he kept looking at me, and smiling. The only problem is that in the fall, he's going to a boarding school and i'm never gonna see him again! Do you have any advice for me? Thank you so much for reading!

I have a HUGE crush on a guy in school. I want to go out with him, but he won't make the first move. Also I'm really shy with boys so I'm a little too shy to make the first move. What should I do? Also, if I go out with him I'm worried my friends might tease me about going out with him. They might tease me like saying he's ugly, or laugh and bug me about why I would go out with HIM. What should I do if they tease me?

Instead of being worried about "making the first move," try something a little more subtle - just talk to him more! Add him on Facebook, make small talk in the cafeteria, text if you have his number, smile and say hey if you see him around the pool/the mall/the movie theater. If you get to know each other better, he'll feel a little more comfy around you and might be able to get the guts to make that first move Smile As for your friends, if you decide to date him, that's YOUR decision. Don't let them bring you down or change your mind! You like him for a reason, so show them why. Tell them about his killer taste in music, his sense of humor, his tennis skill, etc. Show them your crush through YOUR eyes and be firm when you tell them you like him. That's what matters!

My best friend is dating this guy that we both like. He knows we both like him and doesn't mind. I let her have him, to be nice. We three hung out together and he payed more attention to me than her. I'm pretty sure she didn't even notice. He was playing volley ball with his friends and asked only me to come over and play, not her. What should I do?

 

hey! since they're dating you have to stay out of the relationship, even if you like him. Try not to flirt with him and stuff, cause he's your friend's bf and it just wouldn't be nice

Okay well theres this boy and hes really cute,sweet,and likes me back...well actually i guess we go out now.but hes 3 years younger(which i dont care bout)but hes shorter than me too.idk if i should just be happy or weirded out.im mean hes tooo adorable but the height thing freaks me out!

I can understand that getting on your nerves, but when it comes down to it, is that really on the same level as all the other good qualities about him?  Think about it, chica, is his height really that important or just something to get used to? Jordan S.
