  • 5 safest sunscreen picks of the season (and serious dos and don'ts)
This GL beauty babe from Lebanon, OH spills her totally fresh and sweet makeup tips.  Find out how babygirl1256 embraces a natural look, but ups her girly factor with bright lips and bronze skin!

Three ways to describe my beauty style: Fresh-faced and Simple, Girl on the Go, Total Beauty Babe- I love giving advice to my besties!

I wear makeup… to school and when hanging out with friends, but not at home

My best beauty tips: I like to keep my makeup simple, and stick to the natural look. A little bit goes a long way! Wearing a completely covered face to school isn't a good look on most girls. Embrace your natural beauty!

Fave lip product: Sugar Lip Treatment in Rose

Why I love it: It is the perfect color for everyday lips, and it moisturizes very well. Everything about it is perfect!

Sugar Lip Treatment SPF 15 in Rose, $23, sephora.com

Fave eye product: NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk

Why I love it: This is the perfect thing to brighten your eyes when you're tired. You can use it as a highlighter on the inner corners, or as an iridescent shadow.

NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk, $5, nyxcosmetics.com

Fave mascara: Smashbox Hyperlash Mascara in Blackout

Why I love it: It perfectly lengthens and defines. It adds just enough volume for everyday eyes.

Smashbox Hyperlash Mascara in Blackout, $20, amazon.com

Fave face coverage product: Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream in Light

Why I love it: This BB cream goes on smooth and it brightens and evens out skin tone at the same time. It also has SPF, which is a must! The coverage is good, too.

Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream in Light, $8, target.com

Fave face color product: Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush in Rose Petal

Why I love it: The color is buildable and the line offers tons of shades to choose from. The product really melts into your skin for a natural glow.

Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush in Rose Petal, $8, ulta.com

Fave skincare product: Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit Foaming Scrub

Why I love it: It exfoliates and cleanses, my skin feels so soft after using it! It helps to get rid of acne and breakouts—and keeps them away.

Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash Pink Grapefruit Foaming Scrub, $6, amazon.com

Fave tool: Tweezerman ProCurl Curler

Why I love it: It curls my lashes perfectly. I have long lashes naturally, but curling them is the easiest way to look more awake. I could NEVER skip curling my eyelashes before school.

Tweezerman ProCurl Eyelash Curler, $20, sephora.com

hey im in 6th grade a i have dark/brown skin what fair color tone is good for me in BB cream? abd can i wear that kind of bouncy blush you wear since im dark skinned/brown?

Hey itssravenn, I think it would be best for you to go into the mall to a makeup counter so someone can help you in person, since it can be hard to tell how colors will look against your skin online. Hit up a store like MAC or Sephora, or head to the makeup counters at Macys or Nordstrom for help. Someone will be able to tell you your exact shade and what blush will work for you. I'm dark/brown skin too and they've been really helpful. Hope this helps you! Xoxo

whats a good way to get rid of my upper lip hair without waxing???

Hey girly! Waxing is probably the most common and efficient option, but you could try buying a hair removal cream (make sure it is one that is specifically for facial hair otherwise the chemicals in it could be to harsh for your face). They sell these things at most grocery stores! xoxo

MOD! So my mom said that I can start wearing make up. I'm entering 9th grade this year but I don't know about the very first thing about make up! Could you please give me some advice for a 1st time make up user? I would really appreciate it! I want to wear natural make up, nothing bright or excessive. Something appropriate for school. Thanks!! Smile

Hey chica! Start off with gloss and mascara- two really easy things to use that will look pretty but natural.  Once you're comfortable with that, you can branch out to other things (blush, a little bit of lipstick, whatever you want!) xoxo

Im in middle school, i have blond hair greenish blue eyes and light skin, what makeup colors should i try?

Hey Girl--

Since you have fair skin try sticking with neutral or light colors. Dramatic hues could look too drastic or even wash you out. I would try a golden or light brown eye shadow and some light peach colored lips.

good luck!

Hey girl,

It really depends on how ready you are and the rules at your school. Talk to your mom about starting out wearing makeup and see if she thinks you are old enough!

My skin is a combination between normal and a light oiliness. I want to use a BB cream ( foundation) to cover up zits and just any discoloration to my face. The thing is I am only in 7th grade. Is this too young? Please answer....thanks!!! Smile

Hey girlie,

I don't think it's too young at all! The "right" age to wear makeup is different for every girl, depending on their maturity, chats with their parents, etc. As long as you're using makeup in a subtle, light way and aren't overdoing it, you're fine! Smile

since i have combination skin my t-zone is oily most time...does this bb cream benefit my type of skin? If not what other foundations are there for my skin.?
How do i apply a highlighter and which one do you recommend at a low price?

Hey Girl--

The cream should work great for your skin. A light cream foundation can work well with oily skin.  Or, you could try using any mineral powder foundation to blot up any oiliness. A highlighter should be applied with a foundation brush to the contours of your face-- cheek bones, eyelids, etc. Head to Sephora or another makeup store so you can find one in your price range... They can even teach you how to apply it!

best of luck

I have 3 questions about BB cream:
1.How do I find the right shade for my skin tone?
2.How much do I need to apply to my face?
3.If I use the BB cream, do I still use concealer?
Also, one more question:
What/who is MOD and why do we have to post it on our comments? Thank you so much Smile(:

Hey girl!

1) BB creams don't come in a huge range of shades. There are some that come in a few shades, but most only come in one or two, which makes it a lot easier to choose which shade to get. 2) Less is more. Since you're young, there's no reason to cake your face with it. It's supposed to be light and fresh feeling, so a nice even coat will be perfect. 3) If you use it, you can still use concealer, it's up to you! GL has a bunch of girls that mod--we're mostly interns here. We answer girls' questions and make sure no one posts inappropriate content on the site. Smile

MOD Does that BB cream have a tint? My mom doesn't want me to apply things with a tint so I was just curious. If so, is there another option for tint-less cover up with SPF and all the same qualities of BB cream? Thanks bunches! Smile

Hey chica!  BB cream does have a tint, I believe, to cover blemishes.  You could try a translucent powder instead, many makeup lines have this kind of powder. xxoo

What is a BB Cream? I've heard a lot about them but I don't really know what they are, I almost bought the maybelline one, but I didn't really know what it was, what is better foundation or bb cream??? Whats the difference? thanks Laughing

Hey chicky, a BB Cream is basically a light foundation with moisturizer, skin care ingredients, and SPF included. So it's supposed to make your skin healthy in addition to looking good. As to which is better, that's probably a personal decision, but BB Cream sounds pretty good to me. Give it a try, and see what you think!

How do I become a "beauty spy"? Does girlslife just choose random people?

Hey girlie,

There's a rotating Love This! box on the site that we put up every now and then, inviting the girls to fill out a survey with their favorite beauty pics and submit a pic. We randomly pick from those submissions. If you want to enter, here's the link: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/YSKC3RB. Lots of girls enter, and just a few are chosen.

MOD MOD MOD MOD MOD!!!!!
i have two skin problems:
1. during the summer, my face gets way more pimply than it normally does. why is this?
And 2. my foundation (bare minerals mineral based foundation) clogs my pores really easily. Why does this happen and how could i make it stop?
Please help!!!!!!!

Hey girl,

Try not to wear as much makeup in the summer, and also make sure you're protecting against the sun. It could be that the heat is making you sweat so the makeup gets a little damp and sinks into your skin more. For the foundation, make sure to clean your face every single night, and do a deep cleanse once a week. Also be sure to clean your makeup brush regularly because that can also do damage. If problems still persist, switch to a different brand.

Quick question. What is the difference between a BB cream and a tinted moisturizer? Thanks!

Hey girl,

I'm not really sure that there's a huge difference...they both moisturize and hide blemishes! Either one would work.

I'm kind of this style of makeup too, but I usually wear really sparkly and girly clothes, and try to have a fresh, yet girly face for makeup. I usually wear concealer ( if I have acne which I barely do) so usually just shiny, clear lip gloss and a few coats of mascara.
