The Summer Olympics just started. Are you tuning in? We admit, this year’s crop
of commercials featuring some top notch Olympians isn’t too bad, but we still
remember the oldies—but goodies—from years past that feature some of our
favorite athletes. Take a trip down memory lane below…

Ever
have a crush on a coach? Well, these girls do with their tennis
instructor—enough of a crush that they turn into two-time Olympic gold medal
winner Serena Williams to impress him.

this one’s too cute. Olympic figure skaters Michelle Kwan, Tara Lipinski and
Nicole Bobek warm up after their chilly practices with some soup—hot enough to
melt the ice to water!

Having
won two Olympic gold medals in basketball, Michael Jordan was/is a role model
for kids everywhere. This famous commercial from Gatorade sparked the “Be Like
Mike” campaign. Because, let’s face it, who doesn’t want to be like him?

Armstrong won a bronze medal at the 2000 Games and finished 14th in
the 1992 Games. This Nike commercial is so inspiring—and yet, no words are even
spoken!

Hamm’s all dolled up

star Mia Hamm won a silver medal in 2000, and brought home the gold in 1996 and
2004. This Barbie commercial is so cute, and we love how excited the girls are
to meet Mia…and have pizza with her!

Phelps is victorious

Phelps is legendary for holding the all-time record of 14 Olympic Gold
medals—winning eight of those in a single Olympics Game (another record). This
Visa commercial aired after his huge win, and with Morgan Freeman’s well-known
voice, we think it does a great job of celebrating Phelps.
