GL's back-to-school beauty checklist

Check these out, too...

  • Beauty Spy: Fresh faced and simple Ann Marie E.
  • Get perfect beach waves without setting foot on the sand
It’s almost the big day! The first day of school can make any girl feel like her tummy’s full of butterflies. We wanna make sure you’re prepped beauty-wise for the big day: Print out this handy beauty checklist a week before school starts and you’ll be ready for anything that comes in your way!

A week before school starts...

___Whiten your teeth. Try Crest’s 3D Whitestrips, Gentle Routine Dental Whitening Kit. If you’re looking for a budget-friendly way to whiten those teeth, we’ve heard that all you need are some strawberries and a little bit of baking soda. Mash the strawberries into a pulp and mix it together with some baking soda.  Spread on your teeth with a soft toothbrush and rinse after 5 minutes. Try no more than once a week!

Crest 3D White Whitestrips, Gentle Routine Dental Whitening Kit, $33, drugstore.com

___Experiment with new school looks. Have some fun with this! Invest in colorful eyeshadows and liners. Try to buy as many things as you can with only $25. Or buy one huge palette with tons of colors like e.l.f.’s 100 piece eyeshadow palette. Try out a swipe of blue liner, or a greenish smokey eye. Just remember not to go too heavy for school.

e.l.f. 100 pc Eyeshadow Palette, $20, target.com

___Focus on cleansing your skin daily to prevent embarrassing breakouts on your first day back. We heart this foaming cleanser from Clean & Clear.

Clean & Clear Essentials Foaming Facial Cleanser, $4, drugstore.com

___Optional: Faux glow. This moisturizer should give you a full shade of color in just three days flat. Self-tanners smell weird, so make sure to do this a few days in advance.

Jergens Natural Glow Express Body Moisturizer, $10, ulta.com

___ Get a new haircut or hairstyle that screams “I spent my days this summer having fun out in the sun!” (Hint: ombre hair.) Plus, getting a haircut gets rid of split ends that can make your hair not look as pretty.

The night before school starts…

___Decide on a cute first-day hairdo and makeup. Trying it out beforehand will decrease the amount of stress you have on the big day (and will make sure you won’t be late for school!).

___Put a spoon in the freezer the night before. In the a.m., place the cold spoon on your eyes to get rid of any puffiness!

___Apply a zit zapper if you have any pimples (or newly forming pimples).

e.l.f. Essential Zit Zapper, $1, eyeslipsface.com

___Paint toes and fingers. Play around with new designs—a total conversation starter! We recommend Sally Hansen’s Nail Polish Strips because you can find the perf pattern to match your personality and your BTS outfit! For your toes, check this post out for the perf pedi.

Sally Hansen Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips, $10, amazon.com

___Pack beauty necessities in your backpack. Have you thought of some of these?

                  a) Breath mints

                  b) Tampons or pads

                  c) Tinted lip balm/ chap stick/ fave lip gloss

                  d) Hand lotion

                  e) Hand sanitizer

                  f) Oil blotting sheets

                  g) Compact mirror

On the big day…

___Bring a water bottle with you to class to keep your skin hydrated and body refreshed (Make sure to use a reusable water bottle!).

___Give yourself at least an hour to get ready. You don’t want to feel rushed, so set that alarm early!

___Slip on two hair elastics on your wrist. That way, you have one for you (and a friend) if you need one! This is especially handy if you have gym class or after-school sports.

___If you’re using mascara day of, sit on it while you eat breakfast. This will make the product easier to work with because it will soften up a little bit. Handy, right?

___Unexpected bad hair day? Put your hair into two braids or put on a cute headband that matches with your BTS outfit.

___Keep in mind that if you put on eye makeup, you should wear a nude lip color or gloss. If you want to wear a more colorful lip, wear a more neutral eye.

___Gently brush your lips with a toothbrush after you brush your teeth. This will make your lips soft and smooth. Then put on some lip balm or Vaseline for a kiss of moisture!

___Wear sunscreen. Yep, the sun is still strong enough now to do some damage.

___Beauty is internal, so make sure to smile and be confident! Good luck!

You’re ready to go! If you already had a beauty checklist, hopefully you can add some of these things onto it.

HAIR EMERGENCY!!!!!!!my hair is very dry idk y but how can i fix in into getting moisturized??PLZ HELP TY

Hey chica! Try using a little more conditioner next time you shower.  If that doesn't work, take an avocado and mash it up, then coat your hair in it.  It sounds gross, but if you leave it in for 10 minutes and then take a shower and rinse it out, the oil in the avocado will help moisturize your hair.  xoxo

MOD MOD MOD
I start school in exactly a week. and I have no clue what to wear. last year I wore a skirt with a cute top, but I felt like i was the only one that tried to look good. every other girl wore pants, so I was the only wearing a skirt. I have two pairs of jeans that are a little above the knee. ones white and the other one is a medium colored blue. and i just know what top! i cant ear spahgetti straps but I can wear those tanks that have thicker straps. also, will whitening toothpaste just work in a week?? I'm only 11 and can't use whitening strips. also, (sorry for so many questions!!) what else can I do to prep before School?? I can't wear makeup.
THANKS!! also, I want to thank all the mods for answering every girls question!!

Hey girl! Most whitening toothpastes take time to work, so they probably won't give you a shining white smile in a week.  Try brushing with a little bit of baking soda, I've heard that works!  As far as what to wear- rock what YOU'RE comfortable in- if that's a skirt then go for it! You can also try jeans with a cute sparkly tank or shorts and a cute graphic tee or sweater.  xoxo

MOD MOD MOD!!!!!
Tips on tweezing eyebrows? And how can I accesorize my school uniform?? I can't get a new
bag this year and our code is REALLY strict. Thanks for the help!

Hey chicky! Eyebrow teezing is a dangerous business, so proceed with caution.  If you haven't ever done it before, as your mom or check this article out for help: http://www.girlslife.com/post/2007/11/19/how-to-perfect-eyebrows.aspx.  As for uniform accessorizing, try out little things like nail polish or rings.  I loved to wear one big piece (a big ring, a cool necklace, a neon cuff) when I wore a uniform.  It doesn't have to be a lot, but one piece can really spice up a uniform.  xoxo

MOD MOD MOD MOD MOD MOD MOD MOD MOD MOD MOD!!
The first week of school me and a friend are staying with another one of our friends. both our moms are away on business. i am really nervous, because i feel like 3 is an awkward number to be with friends bcuz it feels like the other 2 are always talking and im left out. im very nervous about it!

Hey girl! When you get to your friend's house, have a few fun activities planned for yourself and for all three of you.  Remember, you guys will probably be exhausted after a couple days at school, so you might be happy to have a little bit of alone time.  If you come with things planned (a book to finish, a fun locker craft to make, or a movie you all can watch), you'll be able to make yourself part of the group and also be alone if you want to (or if you feel left out, you have something else fun to do that they might want to join in on).  Good luck! xoxo
