I’m thinking of breaking up with my BF, but every time I
build up the courage to do so, he’s so nice to me! HELP!!
Hey girl. Breaking up is hard but you’ll get through it!
First, you need to make sure that breaking up is really what you want to do. What keeps stopping you in the first place? When
he’s nice to you, are you not sure that you want to breakup with him? Or is it
just hard to get the words out when he’s being so kind?
If you know you want to trade your relationship for the
single life, then you need to tell him. Try to meet up so you can talk to him
face-to-face or else talk to him over the phone. No text message breakups
please! When he says something nice and you start to waver, stop and take a
deep breathe. Remind yourself what you want to do and push through. Once you
took a breath and refocused, be kind but direct. Say something like you appreciate
that he was a nice boyfriend, but at this time in your life, you want to be
single.
It isn’t fair to either of you to keep a relationship that you’re
not really into, so by breaking up with him, you’re actually doing what’s best
for both of you. And if he really is a nice guy, he’ll respect your decision. Overall,
it’s most important to be true to yourself and what you want. Good luck!
