The Hunger Games lands on DVD TODAY! Have you already snagged your copy? Along with the actual flick, the DVD is loaded with tons of special features. As if it couldn’t get any better, right?! Here’s the lowdown on some of our faves.
The World is Watching: The Making of The Hunger Games
Check out behind-the-scenes footage of the cast goofin’ off around set. Plus, get the inside look on what it was like to make the movie—from casting to post-production!
Propaganda Film
See the vid that was screened during the reaping in its entirety. Trust us, it totes looks like something that came straight from the Capitol.
Game Maker: Suzanne Collins & The Hunger Games Phenomenon
Listen to the cast and crew of the film talk about how the story is totally relevant to life today. Creepy! Plus, find out about how Suzanne came up with the idea for the books.
Controlling the Games
Get a closer look at how the crew created the Game Center (it was almost entirely green screen!) and why having it was so important to the flick. ‘Cause, as you know, you don’t see the Game Center in the books!
“A 17-year-old who still sleeps with a stuffed animal? Think what you want. But you should always own who you are and what you’re doing in that moment.”—Jacqueline Emerson (Foxface) on her cure for homesickness while filming The Hunger Games
“Whenever we were on set in the middle of the woods, it took a long time to get to the bathrooms. So when I had to go, Jen and I would trudge into the woods and take some pee breaks together.”—Amandla Stenberg (Rue) on her and co-star Jennifer Lawrence’s unusual bonding experience
“We went swimming and Liam [Hemsworth] had never seen a crawfish before. I thought I saw [one], so I went to pick it up. Turns out, it was a leech. It latched onto my hand and I started freaking out like a sissy.”—Josh Hutcherson (Peeta) on his favorite off-set Hunger Games memory
“I have a lot of fire and a bit of fight in me.”—Isabelle Fuhrman comparing herself to her Hunger Games character, Clove
“I had to lose a lot of weight. Before we started shooting, my brother texted me, ‘It’s called ‘Hunger’ Games, not ‘Eating’ Games.”—Liam Hemsworth on prepping for the role of Gale.
