Chat up the cutie during band, and see if he’s interested. If you’re bold, try to organize a band hangout—a trip to the movies, or grabbing some fro-yo after practice. It’ll give you two lots of time to talk and spend time together without the pressure of being alone. Don’t get nervous; just be your awesome self. There’s no way he won’t like you once he gets to know you.

I’m not going to lie to you though, age differences are tough—especially when he's in high school and you're still in middle school. He may be embarrassed to admit that he likes you because you’re younger, and you may feel weird around his older buds. If you hardly get to see him now, it probably won’t get easier to hang out even if you two start dating. I’d say go for it, but be careful and stay on the lookout.
