Celebs are showing their undying love for that style champ,
the basic pony. We’ve got eight more inspiration shots and how-tos to round out
our 28-total mammoth. (Go here for
part 1 and
part 2.) Which pony are you gonna try first?
Lauren Conrad’s
tuck-it-under pony
This may not look like your typical pony, but it started off
as one! Pretend you’re making a low pony, but keep your hair tucked into your
hair elastic instead of pulling it out! Fuss with a few face-framing layers to
make it look easy.
Bridgit Mendler’s curly tail
pony
We heart Bridgit’s pretty tail—steal this style by creating
a quick side part with the front section of your hair, then pulling the rest
back into a mid-height pony. Use a 2-inch barrel curling iron to create waves
in the tail, wrapping hair in different directions around the iron to create a
tumble of curls. Add a quick flip to the front sections, while you’re at it!
Crystal Reed’s majorly
piece-y pony
Crystal’s bumped-up pony looks fierce with her choppy bangs.
Continue the piece-y look throughout the pony by pulling out the pieces on the
side of the face and using a curling iron to add movement to the layers.
Jordin Sparks' face-framing
pony
Everything about Jordin’s look is meant to frame the face,
which we love! Create a center part all the way down, and pull hair into a low
pony at the base of the head, centered. The trick here is to wear the tail
around on one side, over the shoulder. Curl the ends of the pony to add flirty
volume.
Chloe Moretz’s short pony
Chicas with cropped locks can
totally pull off Chloe’s look. Leave a 2-inch section of hair out of your low
pony, then use a flat iron to straighten the front pieces. Awesomely rad with
leather.
Julianne Hough’s bouncy
pony
Love the height on Julianne’s
bouncy tail. Lightly tease the crown first, then pull up into a mid pony.
Tighten the tail to create even more rise, and make sure to leave the front
sections free—smooth to finish.
Janel Parrish’s sky-high pony
Janel’s pretty pony has a decidedly retro vibe. Pull off a
major pouf for school by pairing with a neutral lip—but red’s totally okay for
a night out! It’s a typical pony with a little bit of a bump: Take a comb and
tease that crown, then pull everything back into a high pony. Make sure to
spritz with strong hold hairspray so it doesn’t fall flat during the day.
Leighton Meester’s
bangs-aside pony
Leighton Meester rocks the “I’m growing out my bangs” look
with a cinchy pony. Pile everything into a pony first. Apply a texturizing spray
to your bangs and your ponytail, then use a comb to separate bangs with a
middle part. Psst: it’s cute if everything’s a bit messy here.
