On September 11,  2001, terrorists left us confused, angry and afraid when they flew two airplanes into the World Trade Center in New York City and one into the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia while another came crashing down in Pennsylvania.

Today, September 11th is a time for healing as we remember those who passed away, show love to our friends and family who are here with us and gather together to support our local heroes and show pride in our country.

As we commemorate 9/11, GL has compiled a playlist of nine songs picked to help us remember, heal and love. Take a listen and share the tunes you blast when getting through the tough times.

“Superman” – Five For Fighting

We love this song for reminding us that police officers and fire fighters are real superheroes.

"Where Is The Love?" – The Black Eyed Peas featuring Justin Timberlake

Belt it out with The Black Eyed Peas as they sing about what the world could always use more of: love.

"Skyscraper" – Demi Lovato

Feel strong while listening to Demi’s song about rising above and overcoming pain and hardships.

"Let's Roll" – Neil Young

The passengers of flight 93 fought against four al-Qaeda terrorists who hijacked their airplane. While the passengers struggled to gain control, the plane crashed in a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania. This song was written as a tribute to those heroes.

"Believe"  - Yellowcard

This song is about the huge sacrifice made by fire fighters who risked their lives to rescue victims of the attack.

“Empire State Of Mind Part 2” – Alicia Keys

Alicia Keys gives a shout out to New York City: the inspiring melting pot where dreams come true.

“A New Day Has Come” – Celine Dion

This inspiring song is about getting through tragedy and tears and making it to a bright new day.

"I Was Here" – Beyoncé

Leave your mark on the world like Beyoncé by living and loving. This song is all about making a difference.

“God Bless The USA” - Lee Greenwood

Show your love for the U.S.A by singing along with this song’s lyrics: ”I’m proud to be an American…”

i still remember it like it was yesterday... i'll never forget the look of the dark black smoke against the blue sky or the thousands who died on that day. i still cry when i think of everyone i lost.

I was the only one of my FB Friends who posted something for 9/11. This upsets me because most of them are adults and I'm 12. Skylines and Turnstiles by My Chemical Romance should be on this list too through. It was written after Gerard Way wittenessed 9/11.
