The New York Times reports that schools across the country are beginning to require tweens and teens to submit to drug testing before they’re allowed to play school sports or participate in school-sponsored clubs and extracurricular activities.
While the urine samples are being tested for a range of substances, the school districts aren’t trying to crack down on over-performing pitchers and soccer superstars. Instead, they’re trying to deter kids from trying drugs like alcohol, steroids and marijuana that are increasingly finding their way into middle school halls.
Though school administrators where the testing programs have been instated say they think the endeavors are working, others aren’t so sure, since testing has never been proven to be successful at preventing people from taking drugs.
What do you think of this development, babes? Do you think drug testing in middle school is silly or smart?

My school is in the top 10 in the state but I know that some kids in my high school do or have done drugs. Anyone can say "My school would never have drugs" but though unfortunate, there is probably someone in your school who is using or has used drugs. I think this is a little extreme but still a good thing. The fact is some middle schoolers and high schoolers do drugs and that is their bad decision and if they are caught because of drug testing maybe it's not a bad thing... It has some advantages and disadvantages.

It is pretty smart. No matter what people believe about their school, there is always a high chance that drugs are there. My middle school is one of the best in my state, but some of the kids there still do drugs. And drug testing is a great way to discourage drugs.

i think it is actually good. Because i don't think they want students on drugs and other stuff while playing sports.
