Have you ever wondered what
life would be like if your pet could communicate with you? Well, in Disney
Channel’s new series
Dog with a Blog, one unsuspecting
fam gets more than just that!
The show revolves around a
new family made up of a mom and a dad, each with children from previous
marriages. They buy a dog for their kids in the hopes of uniting them as
siblings and friends. But as it turns out, their new dog Stan runs his very own
blog! Hilarity ensues as the kids get to know each other and Stan tells all on
his website about his new and dysfunctional fam.
We caught up with
13-year-old G Hannelius, who plays
Avery on the show—and we we’re super psyched to learn that she is a GL
subscriber…and it is her favorite magazine! How cool is that?

GL: What do you love most about your character,
Avery?
G: I love that she is a
problem solver. Whenever a problem arises, she always comes up with a solution!
What’s one of the funniest things that has happened
on the Dog with a Blog set so far?
Definitely when I had to
smash a watermelon on a table with a wooden mallet. Pieces were flying
everywhere and the whole cast was drenched in watermelon juices. Plus, we had
to do it THREE times!
Do you have any pets in real life?
Yes, I have two dogs. One is
actually a rescue, like Stan.
If you were to dress a pet up in a Halloween costume
this year, what would it be?
I actually bought a pumpkin
costume for my miniature pincher, but he wouldn't keep the little pumpkin stem
hat on.
If you could swap places with any animal for a day,
which would you pick?
I think that I would be one
of my own two dogs because they get so much love, care and attention.
Got a funny family story you can share with us?
When I lived in Maine, my
parents, a friend and I went out on a boat to have lunch on another island. My
dad dropped the anchor and when we came back a few hours later, we couldn't
find our boat. We had to ask a man to take us out on his to look for it. We
eventually found it close to another far away island! The tide had risen and
loosened the anchor. It was pretty scary when it happened, but now I look back
and laugh.
