Throughout
the years, I have grown to accept that, while I am a writer, I am certainly not
an artist. I’ve always preferred the pen to the paintbrush, especially because
that’s what I was better at.
That
being said, when I got the chance to try out Art Academy, Nintendo’s
new game for the 3DS, I just
couldn’t say no. I’ve always loved and admired art—it was my skill level that
was lacking. And, trust me, that didn’t matter, this game is super fun, budding
Picasso…or not.
One
of the coolest things about Art Academy
is that you don’t have to be a gamer or an artist to have fun. After completing
my first painting, it was hard to put down the 3DS!
When
you start the game, you get to decide what skill level you are. I went with the
beginner courses, but if you’re more art-inclined, feel free to choose the
advanced courses. What’s also amazing is that at any time, you can decide to
stop following lessons for a bit and draw whatever you would like in Free Paint
mode, putting the creativity in your hands!
While
I’m still not ready to call myself an artist, I hope that I’ll be able to keep
playing Art Academy and improve my
skills. Not only will I be better at painting in the game with time, but the
lessons actually give you knowledge that’s useful for real-life art as well.
Talk about a way to wow your fam and friends!
Be
sure to pick up a copy of the game (available now!) so you can tap into your creative side while relaxing with
your 3DS. After just one painting, I can’t wait to get back to my lessons and
catch a li’l break from life for a bit.
Are
you an artist? What’s your fave lesson on Art
Academy? Blog about it, babes.
