Is this brown stuff in my undies my period?

 
I think I just got my period. There’s a lot of brown stuff in my underwear (and I know it’s not poop ‘cause, well, I’d know). There’s no redness in it though, so is it blood or something else?

 

You’re getting close, girlie! Brown discharge is old blood—it turns brown because it has oxidized as it made its way out of your body. It’s totally normal to see this kind of discharge in the months leading up to your first true-blue period. Don’t be freaked; just start to prepare for Aunt Flo to come visiting on the regular.

 

For now, you can wear panty liners to keep your undies clean, or light or junior tampons. And for the future, it’s smart to toss some pads, tampons and a change of undies in your locker (in a cute, opaque little bag, of course!) and your backpack or purse, just in case.

This is really embarrassing, and really awkward. But, my mom says I need to wash down there, but I don't know...how. How are you supposed to do it? Sorry for this totally awkward question...
FYI, I got my period last December, and I haven't cleaned down there...ever, because I didn't know what to do. Is that bad?

 

 Hey girl, it sounds like you're really open to your mom about this issue, so why not ask her for some personal hygene tips. But some basic down there washing tip:, use a mild soap. Not an anti bacterial soap since it can mess with your PH levels and wash up every time you take a shower and especially if you have your period. There are also wipes you can use if ya want for in between showers to stay clean down there during a bathroom break when your on your period.

My thumb nail has been annoying me lately. And then today, it started hurting really bad because of a hangnail. I tried clipping the hangnail off, but it still is REALLY REALLY painful. Any other ways I can get rid of a painful hangnail?

So I really like this guy. He is really nice & funny,and he is just all around really great. Buuut he has a girlfriend. She is the meanest girl in my grade. She is HORRIBLE! He has dated 5 girls in the last 4 months,(current gf included)so I don't know if I can trust him. But I really like him. What should I do?? Mod Mod Mod...
So I am 13 and I am starting to finally get a regular perioid time. I've had it 4 or 5 times now and each time I try putting in a tampon, I almost get it in but not all the way! I then of course have to take it out and it hurts then because it is dry coming out. Any suggestions on how to put in a tamon after that many trys? I really want to be able to wear tampons instead of pads in school sooo any suggestions? and also if I where a tampon to school and I get on the bus at 6:40 and i get home around 3:40, what time should I change it at school? Thank You sooo much!

Hey Cowsrule11, be sure you have the right sized tampons. Try propping your legs up on the bathtub or toilet, and insert it at an angle. It sounds like you need small ones. Change it as often as you feel you need to. Maybe every 1-3 hours. Hope this helps! Xoxo
