10 ways to burn off that second slice of pie

 
It’s almost Thanksgiving, time to watch parades (and eat Mom’s delicious pumpkin pancakes), cook a huge feast (and sample the ham while Dad carves) and catch up with your cousins (while chowing down on your second helping of Grandma’s homemade pie). Turkey Day is a time to indulge in everything that you’ve been blessed with, namely good food and great family and friends. But that doesn’t mean you’ve got hit the Black Friday sales packing some extra poundage. Here’s how to squeeze some exercise into your holiday so you can enjoy the sweetness of the day without loading on the guilt.

 

Volunteer to take your younger cousins outside for a game of freeze tag

 

Text your neighborhood friends and see if anyone is up for some powderpuff football

 

Speed walk a local parade route with your pals

 

Sign up a last-minute addition to your town’s Turkey Trot or holiday walkathon

 

Offer to book it to the grocery store to pick up the things Mom forgot to grab

 

Write out cute thank-you notes for friends, family and neighbors who live close by and deliver on your bike.

 

Take the stairs at a jog as ya tell the fam dinner’s ready (or drag ‘em downstairs to help out…or bring decorations down from the attic).

 

Stand up as you watch the rivalry game on TV—and cheer along. Even bouncing on the balls of your feet will help boost your heart rate.

 

Got glorious weather? Grab a pair of gloves and a rake and start cleaning up the yard. Just 30 minutes of this vigorous activity will have you deserving your dessert!

 

Make a playlist of tunes you and your fellow chefs are thankful for this year, and bop around the kitchen while you whip up your favorite dishes. Just be careful!
