Teen keeps family Christmas tree biz from gettin' chopped

 
This holiday season, Kaitlyn Metscher, 16, of Clark County, Washington, was set to take over her family’s Christmas tree business. She had planned to use the profits she made from selling the trees--which her family has been doing for years—to fund her college education.

 

That is, until the county shut her down. According to local laws, her business, which operates in a residential area, violated a zoning ordinance. Kaitlyn told Fox 12 News that she believes competitors tipped off the county, but she refused to let nay-saying officials get her down. Instead, she cracked open the county books and checked out the laws for herself. Impressed by her fortitude, the county commissioners approved an emergency ordinance that will allow the business to stay open.

 

Talk about determination! Kaitlyn dreams of being a lawyer, and it looks to us that she’s well on her way. Check out a video interview with this chica here.

Hi hi, first of: Loving the website.
Now I need a little bit of help with this guy I met.. I don't like him in the crushing on him way but I really like him as a friend and so does he, but now we hugged at school in this empty classroom and it was great and he makes me laugh a lot, but the things is; He wrote me a song, and he only send me 4 lines of it and now he wants me to come to his house to cuddle and he will sing the song to me.. I'm quite nervous and not really sure what I should tell my parents if they ask me where I'm going... How am I supposed to act ? Help please?

 

Hey girl, be honest with your parents. Tell them you're going to hang out with one of your friends. If you're uncomfy with it, don't go! Just be yourself.

This summer I want to get a part time job, but the problem is that im only 15 so not a lot of businesses or job offers will accept me cuz im too young. Im looking for a website that i can make a profile for job applications, do u know what i mean? Like i would really be fine with any job, errands, nanny, babysitting, pet sitting, dare care, assistant of some sort, that kind of stuff. Do you know any websites that could help me? (but i can only work this summer) thx! xoxo - mic

Hey girl, instead of first going online to find jobs this summer, try word-of-mouth.  Enlist your parents and friends to keep their ears open to see if they hear of any babysitting gigs or other summer jobs.  If you have a place in mind that you would like to work, or a person you'd like to work for, it never hurts to ask if they're looking for some seasonal help.  Here's a few more ideas of how to make some money this summer.  Good luck!
