Les
Misérables is coming to the big screen tomorrow,
Dec. 25. Yep, that’s right. As one of Broadway’s longest-running
musicals, you can now catch it in theaters, and some of our fave celebs like
Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried and Helena Bonham Carter, are starring in it.
This dramatic movie-musical surely won’t disappoint. Hey, it’s already been
nominated for a Golden Globe!
The
idea of a Broadway-inspired film definitely isn’t unusual. Many musicals have
been turned into movies in the past, like Mamma
Mia, Hairspray and Chicago, to name a few. And then there
are movies that have later been made into musicals (The Lion King, Shrek or Bring It On, anyone?).
That’s
not to say we’ve gotten our total fix of musicals-turned-movies, just yet. Some
other hits we’re hoping hit the big screen soon? Well, there’s Wicked.
We could totally see Reese Witherspoon as Glinda the Good Witch. Oh, and Jersey
Boys, featuring any four of the One Direction cuties, of course. And
how about How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying? OK, so
they’ve already made a movie version of that one in 1967, but we think it’s
time for a remake…and we’re thinking it should include Daniel Radcliffe back in
J. Pierrepont Finch’s shoes.
So
whether you’ve already seen the play or not, we suggest checking out Les Mis this holiday season. Catch a
peek at the flick below…
Are
you pumped for the Les Mis movie?
Which Broadway musical would you like to see turned into a flick? Blog about
it, babes.
