Snow day? 5 ways to burn off that extra mug of hot cocoa

Just ‘cause ya can’t get to the gym—or b-ball practice—doesn’t mean you can’t have a blast staying fit this winter. When your neighborhood turns into a winter wonderland, there are all sorts of awesome things you can do to get outdoors…and earn that extra mug of hot chocolate. Extra whipped cream, please!

 

Sledding

Pick the steepest hill you can find, grab a sled, trash can lid, tray, cardboard box—anything!—and go slip-sliding away. Racing your buds down the slope (and jogging back up) will counterbalance that grande peppermint mocha you grabbed at Starbucks earlier.

 

Ice skating

If you have a safe pond or nearby indoor rink, lace up your skates, sweeties! Cruising around for 45 minutes burns over 300 calories…and you can count on even more when you fall down laughing!

 

Snowball fight!

It’s the only time of year when picking a fight is A-OK. Pelt your pals with powder for 15 minutes to knock off 130 calories. The longer you stay outside—and the more active you make the snowball fight—mean an even bigger payoff, so bundle up and be prepared for battle!

 

Building a snowman

Who knew that rolling and packing balls of snow was such a workout? Burn 250 calories in an hour by working different muscle groups as you sculpt. Squatting down to get more snow? Squeeze your tush! Dressing him up? Rise up on your toes to work your calves.

 

Shoveling

OK, so this one isn’t too much fun when you’re flying solo, but if you grab your girls (or your sibs), you can knock off the driveway in no time and laugh as you go. Just be careful not to strain your back, babes! Bonus: Get up early the day of a snowfall and go door-to-door to ask your neighbors if they’d be interested in paying ya to shovel. Score!

MOD
I want to lose 20lbs because I am fat. What are some ways to lose belly fat, a muffin top, and thigh fat? My goal is to have a thigh gap and awesome abs by summer. Laughing One more detail to complicate this though; (sorry!!) I have serious knee problems... I'm getting knee surgery in both knees to tighten the tendons (or something like that. I tend to tune my doctor out). What can I do to get in shape that won't damage my knees further?

if you don't have the game: just go on youtube and look up just dance 4 videos and do them. they have stuff like "beauty and a beat" and "gangham style." we did it in our AM homeroom the past 2 fridays and it's a ton of fun. you barely know you're working out!!
