Help! Life is just too hard

Check these out, too...

  • I don't want to leave my friends behind when school ends
  • My dad is sexually abusing me. How can I tell my mom?
  • How to live every day like it's your last: A lesson from Zach Sobiech
  • Is there a way to flirt without being obvious?
  • My best gal is branching out...and I'm not OK with it

For a while, I felt like I had everything anyone could ever want: awesome friends, no pimples (yay!) and a great family. Then everything changed. My parents got divorced, my dag began to ignore me, and my mom got cancer and is in the hospital. She says that it’s her medication that’s making her hair fall out. I don’t want to talk to anyone about it, not even my best friends. I’m so sad.

Dear Can’t Take It,

I’m not surprised you’re upset. It’s hard when someone you love is in the hospital, and I’m sure your mom doesn’t like being sick either. She’d rather be there for you and be strong for you. That said, try to accept your sadness (it’s normal under these circumstances) and tell her you’re worried and that you love her.

You’re mom’s hair is probably falling out because of chemotherapy, but often chemo can make all the difference. Confide in a relative or a teacher you can trust, and don’t shut out your closest friends. You don’t have to spill anything you’re not comfortable with, but letting others in on how you’re feeling will be freeing. Promise. And can you get a hold of your dad and let him know that you need and want him in your life? I hope your family gets better news soon.

MOD MOD MOD
So recently all of my friends have been getting their driver's licenses, but I had this health incident and can't drive for 6 months soo I'm not able to get mine for quite a while. Since they can all drive they have been going fun places and doing fun things, but I can never go because my parents won't let me drive with kids. But they both work all day so I'm stuck!! I've tried having my friends over my house, but they don't want to do that all of the time, so I hardly get to hang out with them anymore and I don't know what to do!!

That's tough! Maybe you guys can hang out at night when you're parents get home...you guys could meet at the movies, or ice skating or even dinner!

I'm sorry that you're upset and that life just it your friend right now. You should talk to your friends, even if it's about who wore what last week at school. Talking (about anything, especially your problems) really helps perk a girl up. I hope your mom gets better and that you talk to your dad. Good luck! I'll kepp you in my prayers. Good advice GL!
