So I got my period 2 days ago and I have a huge swimming competition the next 2 days that I can't miss. I've tried using tampons and I found a brand that I like and that works, but when I put it in, it just doesn't feel right. I've tried putting a little Vaseline on the tip and I know to be aiming it at the small of my back and all, but I just couldnt get it in any farther. My mom told my that none of the cottony part should be sticking out, but for me, it just won't go in any farther. Do you have any advice on how to get it in farther, or make it feel right? (Also, I don't like to use tampons with an applicator, so I use the brand o.b. which don't use applicators.) Thanks in advance!!!

It might help to try one with an applicator even if you're not used to them, because applicators can be really helpful! You could also try a smaller, lighter tampon and change them more often. And I wouldn't put Vaseline on them because you don't want that inside your body!
