Bombshell: My bud told me her dad abuses her

My friend told me her dad abuses her and is always drunk. Her parents are divorced so she only has to go over to his house every other weekend and a day in the week. I don’t know what I should say to her! Please help!

This is heavy stuff, and neither you nor your friend is equipped to deal with it on your own. Your friend needs to get out of that situation: no girl should have to spend time with a family member who drinks and abuses her. Urge your friend to tell her mom what’s going on. This situation will probably require her mom and her lawyers to challenge the custody arrangement, so the most important thing is to make sure the adults in her life know what’s going on; that way they can do whatever it takes to stop it.
