She’s the teen star that MTV is calling the
“young Beyonce,” and a quick listen of her new EP
Made Of (set for release next Tuesday, March 12) is
getting us thinking that they just might have it right.
Fifteen-year-old Courtney
‘Coco’ Jones is an up-and-coming actress, pop singer and rapper.
Yea, you might remember her from Radio Disney’s Next
Big Thing, or from last summer’s Disney Channel
Original Movie, Let It Shine. She’s guest-starred on the Disney
Channel’s So Random! and Good Luck
Charlie, is set to perform at the Radio Disney
Music Awards next month, and slated to tour with boy
band Mindless Behavior in May. Phew, that’s a lot!
Coco’s latest hit single “Holla at the DJ” is
featured on her new EP and it’s been receiving plenty of love from online
fans—and rightfully so since the song is fun upbeat and highlights her strong
vocals. Slightly reminiscent of Rihanna’s 2006 hit “Pon de Replay” (maybe the
‘new Beyonce’ isn’t quite the right comparison after all), the song really just
makes us want to get up and dance.
Also included in Made Of
are “World is Dancing,” “Déjà Vu” and the EP’s title track. Each song is just
as bright and club vibe-y as the last—the perfect soundtrack for a slumber
party or a solo rock-out around your room after a long day. And while we’d love
to have seen a bit more versatility from Coco, this four-song EP proves that
she’s got all the talent and potential to do it in the future.
Our conclusion: Keep an eye on this one
because Coco’s got all the makings of the next big pop star.
