Mastermind a hoppin' Easter egg hunt

With spring heating up, we can’t stop thinking about Easter. And nothing says Easter like a super fun egg hunt. So rather than following your sibs around the neighborhood hunt, host an egg search of your own! We have a super fun way to plan the ultimate Easter festivities-- right in the comfort of your own backyard.

First, find the friends
Before you start searching for eggs, you have to find the guests! Because Easter is a holiday that almost everyone can participate in, invite your girl and guy pals! They’ll be super psyched for the competition. To report the search, send out a super cute e-vite. After typing up the dets, add some hoppin’ animations and springtastic clip art! The cute holiday designs will def get everyone in the hunting mood.

Collect the supplies
The most important part of the hunt is finding the eggs and putting them in your bag, right? So make sure you have both! Because you will be making the party favors this Easter, purchase some white paper plates and pink ribbons for the bag. If you are making peanut butter eggs, make sure you have powdered sugar, creamy peanut butter, butter, milk, semisweet chocolate chips and shortening. But if your pal has a peanut allergy, try making chocolate buttercream eggs. You will need powdered sugar, butter, milk, vanilla, unsweetened chocolate and semisweet chocolate chips. And feel free to buy some balloons or streamer as decoration for the afterparty!

Prepare with your pals
The day before the hunt, invite your besties over for some DIY Easter fun. Clear out your kitchen and make room for a day of crafts and cooking. Here are the instructions to each egg hunt necessity.

Bunny Bags: Take two paper plates and cut small crescents out of the tops of both plates. Staple the plates together, so that there is no space for the eggs to fall out. Punch two holes out of the top of your plates and tie a pink ribbon through them. This will be your handle. Draw a bunny face on the front of your new bag. If you’re feeling super crafty, glue cotton balls for cheeks next to the bunny’s nose. Staple the two crescents on top of the bag to look like ears. Feel free to paint them in pink. Keep going until you have enough bags for each guest!

Butter Cup Eggs: Mix 4 cups of powdered sugar, 1 ½ cups of creamy peanut butter and ¼ cup of melted butter in a bowl. Slowly add 2 to 3 tablespoons of milk until the mixture turns into dough. Take the dough and form it into small egg shapes. Place them in the freezer for one hour. Place 3 cups of semisweet chocolate and one tablespoon of shortening into the glass cup. Microwave for 1 minute at a time, stirring in between until it’s totally melted. Dip each peanut butter egg into the melted chocolate using a skewer and place it on wax paper. If you’re in the decorating mood, add frosting or sprinkles to the eggs.

Chocolate Buttercream Eggs: Mix together 2 cups of powdered sugar, ½ cup of softened butter, 2 tablespoons of milk and one teaspoon of vanilla until it becomes dough. Put the eggs in a freezer for one hour. Melt one cup of unsweetened chocolate and one cup of semisweet chocolate chips together in a microwave or double boiler. Dip the buttercream eggs into the melted chocolate using a skewer and place it on wax paper. Add some sprinkles and icing for fun!

Hunt hunt hunt
The day of the hunt, wrap your eggs in foil and place them all around your yard and house. When your guests arrive, hand out their bunny bags and start the search! You can split your pals up into teams or have everyone go solo. When the last egg has been found, count them up and see who spotted the most. The winners get to eat their eggs, but hey, so does everyone else. It’s a win win situation! Enjoy your tasty treats girl, we know your pals will.
