LOL! Wacky warm-ups to start your workout right

 
By now everyone and their mom has seen (or made) a dozen Harlem Shake parodies. Sure, we could have rounded up GL staffers for a vid. But instead, we saw the best pre-workout vid around. The flailing arms move and non-stop jumping? Waaay more effective than your average toe touches and static stretches. For more moves to get you pumped up and loosened up, queue these vids before your next workout.

 

 

Stair bounce


 

Give yourself a moment to get the giggles out. All cuteness aside, a quick jog up the stairs does get your quads and cardio going. Set the clock to five minutes of stair runs if it’s too cold to exercise outside.

 
 

Fresh stretches of Bel-Air


 

OK, so maybe you don’t need to partner up to stretch it out. But can you think of a better way to work your abs and hip abductors? We think not!

 
 

Cha-cha real smooth

 

 

Limbering up for a long jog? Try running—or cha-chaing—in place first. Raise your knees up extra high to loosen up your hamstrings.

 
 

Walken it out


 

Fun fact: Did you know that Christopher Walken is a tap dancing fiend? Us neither, ‘til we watched this vid. Most of his moves are pretty tricky, but a few sets of this simple two-step should get your heart pumping.

 
 

The chilliest cool down


 

Take a cue from this dog and cat duo and lay down, stretching out your lower back muscles. Work your quads and hammies by bringing one knee up to you and crossing over your straightened leg.
