When bombs went off near the Boston Marathon finish line this afternoon, fear spread across America--the same fear, I'm sure, that's felt globally when such things happen. Security tightened in major U.S. cities, and I, for one, was glued to my newsfeed, waiting for updates to come streaming in.
As of 6:00 p.m. EST, the Boston Police Department and area hospitals have confirmed that two people have died and more than 100 are injured, many critically. Rumors--of more explosions, of cell phone service being shut down--are flying, and we'll find out if those are true in the coming hours and days. But for now, all we can do is help each other...and help ourselves.
Managing fear is a tough thing. Hopefully, these words will comfort you--and make you think--as they have done for me.
Let's talk about our fears, girls, and how we handle them on a daily basis. Talk to us--and each other--in the comments (and please remember to respect your peers' feelings and opinions).
