Instant Pinspiration: 10 ways to DIY denim shorts

Are you tired of wearing the same styled shorts every day? Customize a pair of your old skinnies or last summer’s shorts for a fab new look this season. We’ve scoured Pinterest for the best (and fabbest!) ideas.

    1. Cut ‘em up

The high-waisted and super frayed shorts look is def on trend. Snag a pair of mom jeans from Goodwill and upcycle them into cute shorts. It’s fun, simple and totally green!

    2. Go to Tie-Dye town

Use colored dyes to revamp your plain white shorts, just as you would a classic white tee. Pick a sunny day and be sure to do this project outside!

    3. Sit ‘n’ splatter

Have a fun afternoon splattering your shorts with a bunch of different colors of paint. Use a paint brush to fling on spots. Cute!

    4. Super stud

Add studs to your shorts all by yourself. All you need is a hot glue gun and some rad studs. Bling out the pockets, edges and waist.

    5. Put a ribbon on it

Sew on some ribbon or lace to the ends of your shorts for a chic look. Try to find some bright ribbon to make your pair even more fun.

    6. American pride

If ya wanna get funky this Fourth of July, create a one-of-a-kind pair of shorts. Use fabric paint to add stripes and get star-shaped sponges to sponge paint on the stars.

    7. Dirty denim

A quick trick for dirtying up your denim is to pour a cup of ground coffee beans in a bucket with water and let your shorts soak in them for 24 hours. Hello, acid wash!

    8. Frayed daze

Wearing frilly frayed shorts is always stylish. Pear them with anything from wedges to cowgirl boots. Get great fringe by throwing just-cut shorts into the washer/dryer.

    9. Patch perfect

Grab some of your fave-patterned fabric, cut into the size of your pockets and sew them onto the back of your fave shorts. Floral patterns are great for the summer.
