7 reasons we're watching The Fosters


 
The Fosters may not be your average family—biracial moms, one biological son and Spanish-speaking adopted twins—but no one’s quite ready for Callie, the newest addition. Will this temporary foster girl join the Fosters for good? Well we’re all about to find out when ABC Family’s latest series The Fosters soars to TV Monday, June 3, at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

 

We caught the pilot episode before it airs next week and there’s plenty of drama in the first episode alone. Trust us, you’re not going to want to miss it. We’re listing the biggest reasons we’re already hooked on the show, which is executive produced by Jennifer Lopez, and why you, too, should be following this new clan all summer long.

 

Stef and Lena are super cool parents: The first is a cop. The second, a principal at the kids’ school. What do we love most about these two? They’ve totally got their family’s back.

 

The Fosters’ high school is right on the beach: Set in California, this show has a beautiful backdrop. Seriously, who wouldn’t want to walk along the beach after school?

 

Brandon (played by David Lambert) is totally understanding: He’s the only biological kid (from Stef’s previous marriage). Brandon’s an awesome musician and couldn’t be a cooler older brother.

 

Mariana and Jesus have a twin dynamic all their own: They seem to always cover for each other, even if they don’t see eye to eye. And did we mention they’re played by Cierra Ramirez and Jake T. Austin, so you know the acting will be good.

 

Callie (played by Maia Mitchell) is fierce: She’s pretty hesitant to join a new family—especially because of her previous foster home situation. But in spite of it all (and even after being sent to juvie), she’s determined to look out for the people she loves.

 

The show tackles real-life issues: Adoption and birth parents, relationships and dating, violence and breaking the law—this show has it all. And there’s bound to be even more to come.

 

Drama-rama: Grab some popcorn and invite your friends because the Fosters’ drama goes beyond the family. At each commercial break, you’ll be glued to the screen, wanting to know more about what these kids are up to. Can you say suspenseful?
