4 ways to keep up your workout routine when it's wicked hot outside


The summer heat is at its peak right now, but that doesn’t mean that you should put your workout aside. We’ve got tons of tips on how to keep up your workout even when the summer sun is shining bright, and it feels like its too hot to exercise. But if you do still decide to take your workout outdoors, remember to drink plenty of water, and don’t push yourself if you’re feelin’ tired.

 

Plan your workout for early morning or later at night

For days when you know that the temps are going to be outrageous, try waking up early to go for a morning jog, or wait until the sun is setting to hit the outdoors. You’re beating the heat, but you’re still able to get your workout on outside – something everyone wants in the summertime.

 

Save the outdoors for your more relaxed workouts

Try a morning yoga session, or a brisk walk when you’re outside in the summer, and save that tough stuff for the gym. If you plan on running miles and miles, or even doing intense intervals, stick to indoors for that stuff. You don’t want to let your body get overheated.

 

Hop in the pool

There’s nothing more refreshing on a hot summer day than jumping in the pool, right? And although it may not seem like it, exercising in the pool can really give your body an intense workout. It’s a win-win – you get to stay cool, enjoy the sun, and workout!

 

Head somewhere with AC

There are tons and tons of fun workout DVDs that you can grab to workout at home. Anything from zumba to yoga, you’re bound to find one type of exercise you like, and the best part is, you do them inside! If you don’t feel like following along with a DVD, head to your local mall and turn a shopping trip into a walking trip.
