Cody Simpson gets real with The Acoustic Sessions

Our fave Australian singer is back at it with new songs for us to swoon over. Cody Simpson’s latest EP The Acoustic Sessions drops today and we couldn’t be more excited.

The 5-track album is all of Cody’s past hits—but with a twist. The stripped-down acoustic versions are more basic, highlighting Cody’s amazing voice and superb guitar skills. We already loved all of these tunes, but now with a new version of his hits, we can’t decide which we like better. Read on to find out what we love about the new take on these tracks. Plus, the special holiday song that’s bound to put ya in the festive spirit.

“Pretty Brown Eyes”

The acoustic version of this hit gives it a whole new feel. With the original having a party beat and some funky rap, this version is simple, giving it a more personal feel. Sigh, if only we were the girl Cody is singing to on here.

“All Day”

Cody first sang this song when he was 14, so hearing him sing it now with a more mature voice is absolutely perfect. The new version has a fun clap beat and, paired with the guitar sound, it’s the perfect song to listen to while getting ready in the morning.

Check out Cody’s music video for this acoustic song below…

“La Da Dee”

You probably remember this song from Cody’s chart-topping second studio album Surfers Paradise (and from the hilarious Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 flick). While the original is loaded with pump-up beats that make us want to dance, this stripped-down take gives us the opposite effect, making it the perfect song to listen to while studying for next week’s test.

“Wish You Were Here”

Yet another party hit, which originally featured Becky G. Don’t worry, in The Acoustic Sessions, Cody still gives us the upbeat tune we know and love, but this time he busts out the rapping.

“Please Come Home For Christmas”

The bonus new song that we get with The Acoustic Sessions is making us love Cody even more! The song is laidback and gives us a holiday hit with a slight surfer vibe. We guarantee it’s one you’ll have on repeat while you wrap your presents this season.
