Sometimes, we’re so psyched to get our sweat sesh on, we can
hardly wait to hit the gym. But other times…oh boy, other times, it’s tough to
get our bums off the couch, much less on an elliptical. Here’s how to conquer
those I-just-don’t-wanna blues, babe…
#1: A killer playlist
Try this one on for size. Or this one. Or, hey, why not this one? The awesome thing about
playlists, whether ya have them in iTunes, Songza, Spotify or something totally
different, is that you can time them to your workout. Put faster beats after a
few slower songs, giving you time to warm-up before you start moving and
grooving. And give your playlists a time limit—10 minutes, 20 minutes and 30
minutes. That way, you’ll know exactly where you are and how many songs you
have to go before you’re done.
#2: New duds
You caught us—we can’t help but wear new clothes as soon as
they’re outta the store and in our closets. But there’s nothing that makes us
feel more like a bum than putting on a fresh pair of yoga pants…and then
parking it on the couch. Make a deal with yourself: You can totes lace up those
new sneaks, but before you take ‘em to school or out for a coffee break, get in
a workout, first.
#3: Catching up with
Try this on for size: Make a pact with a pal or two that one
buzz-worthy topic will be off limits for chatter unless you’re working out
while you talk. Our vote? Guys. What could be better than keeping your abs
tight and booty toned while you gossip about the latest hottie to catch your
eye? You know. Other than a first date.
#4: A reward
A kiddie cup of ice cream after 30 minutes on the treadmill?
You’ve got yourself a deal, uh, self. Pick one thing that can always get you
motivated about something you’d really rather not tackle, then use it to burn
some calories, tone some muscles and get a little sweat sesh going. Next up?
