When the temps are in the negatives, it’s hard to resist
plopping the kiddos you babysit in front of the TV for the day. Although it may
seem like it’s the best thing to do, there are tons of ways to have fun without
having to turn on the TV or take a step outside!
Have a dance party
Turn on the tunes and crank up the volume! Dancing and
singing out loud to your fave songs will get everyone in a happy mood and keep
ya warm! Bonus: it get’s the kids active while staying indoors!
Snowflakes and snowmen
You don’t have to leave the house for these snowflakes and
snowmen! Bring the cold fun inside by doing arts and crafts. Make snowflakes
using paper and scissors and snowmen by gluing cotton balls together. Not an
artsy chica? Print out step by step instructions to help ya along the way.
Who says you need a karaoke machine to sing along to the
hits? Take turns belting out songs chosen by the other kids there. It’s simple
and will have everyone playing along. Bonus points awarded for a spectacular
Board Game Marathon
Instead of a movie marathon, bring along some games that you
loved to play as a kid. This is a great way to get the kids’ brains working while
still having tons of fun.
Put on a play
What kid doesn’t dream of being the action hero or the
princess? Use their imagination to your advantage and write a script perfect for
each kid and then act it out. It’s a super fun way to encourage creativity and
get some laughs.
