Choose a dry shampoo.
Dry shampoo comes in two forms: powder or spray-on. You can apply both to
the roots of your hair to soak up excess oils in between shampoos and give
longer life to hairstyles. While you don’t need to wash your hair before you
use dry shampoo, be sure that it's clean of any hairpins, bands, clips and
Apply it. If
you're using a powder shampoo, sprinkle it over the top of your head,
especially in the areas that tend to get oily. Use your fingers to distribute
it. If you went for a spray-on shampoo, hold it 6 inches away from your head
and spray. This might get messy, so do it over the sink or be ready to clean up
when you're all done.
Let it settle in. Allow
5 to 10 minutes for the dry shampoo to absorb all of the oil from your hair. If
you have particularly oily hair, wait a little longer. To fill the time while
you wait, grab breakfast or pick out your outfit for the day.
Comb the excess
shampoo out of your hair. Flip your head upside down and brush out your hair to distribute the powder. For spray, you can use a hair dryer to help the process along. Make sure there are no dusty spots, and then style your hair as normal.
