    What: Coconut oil

Slather on as a hair mask to moisturize hair, fight frizz and nix dandruff.

Mix coconut oil into our tea? Don’t mind if we do! Some companies that specialize in essential oils, such as Young Living Essential Oils and doTERRA Oils, are safe to consume, but others may not be. Look at the bottle first to make sure they’re pure and safe for consumption.

    What: Peppermint oil

Where: NOW Foods Peppermint Oil, $5,

Vitacost 100% Pure Peppermint Oil, $6,

Aura Cacia 100% Pure Essential Oil Peppermint, $6,

Young Living Essential Peppermint Oil, $23,

Why: When you hear peppermint, you probably think about fresh breath or Christmas candy, but there’s actually tons more to it. Rub peppermint oil on your stomach for that-time-of-month cramps, or onto your temples to battle a brutal headache.

If the label says it’s safe to drink, add to your tea to soothe a tummy ache. For a li’l boost of energy or quick stress buster, take a whiff, breathe deep and smile. Works for sniffles and cold symptoms, too.

    What: Tea tree oil

Where: NOW Foods Pure Tea Tree Oil, $6,

Desert Essence Tea Tree Oil Facial Cleansing Pads, $8,

Burt’s Bees Herbal Blemish Stick, $8,

Australian Bodycare Tea Tree Oil, $9,

    Lush Tea Tree Water, $10,

Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash, $12,

Why: We know, we know: Won’t putting oil on oily skin just cause more painful pimples? Actually, no! Some oils do the exact opposite and clear your clogged pores. Tea tree oil has powerful antibacterial, antifungal and anti-inflammatory properties, meaning buh-bye acne.

It’s proven to reduce redness and treat acne as effectively as benzoyl peroxide with less harmful side effects. Be careful, though, because it can be strong and cause your skin to dry out. So, be sure to either dilute it with water or—more effectively—jojoba oil before applying it to the affected area, or buy a cream or wash that has tea tree oil as one of its prime ingredients. Hint: it can also help with ingrown hairs!

Who: Emma Stone, Rachel McAdams, Kim Kardashian

    What: Argan oil

Where: Saadia Organics Argan Oil, $12,

Aria Beauty 100% Pure Argan Oil, $14,

Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil, $16,

100% Natural Argan Oil by Natural Beauty Brand, $20,

Why: Do you have skin that’s dry, not cracking? Are your locks stiff and dull, not flaking? Do you have the occasional pimple, not the never-goes-away acne? This is where argan oil comes in.

Argan oil (aka Moroccan oil or ‘Liquid Gold’) is a moisturizing, healing and conditioning oil that’s not so much a direct target to skin and hair problems, but helps prevent them and soothe the occasional flare up. It’s great at taming frizzy hair, repairing damaged hair, moisturizing and soothing skin and healing acne. It can be used as a gentle lip balm or cuticle softener. Use it as a quick facial before applying makeup.

Who: Taylor Swift, Leighton Meester, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Kylie Jenner, Kaley Cuoco, Nicole Richie, Natalie Portman, Scarlett Johansson

    What: Rosehip Seed Oil

Where: Life-Flo Pure Rosehip Seed Oil Organic, $8,

NZ Fusion Notanicals Pure Organic Certified Rosehip Seed Oil, $15,

Mountain Rose Herbs Organic Rosehip Seed Oil, $20,

Sukin Organic Rosehip Seed Oil, $20,

Why: It’s in a lot of beauty products and creams already, but the natural extract does wonders for your skin alone. Rich in vitamins and antioxidants, rosehip seed oil is an amazing treatment for dry skin, sun damage (which is common in these summer months!), helping diminish the appearance of scars and evening out your skin tone.

This all-in-one product can be used for almost anything when it comes to your skin, acting as a makeup remover, a moisturizer and tons of other things. It’s non-greasy, super absorbent and rejuvenates your skin with a healthy glow since it’s packed full with vitamin C.
