20 beauty picks from GL editors

The leading ladies of Girls’ Life know a thing or two about makeup – after all, part of their job is to keep you updated on the latest products. That’s why to celebrate GL’s 20th Anniversary we’ve compiled a list of 20 beauty products that are fabulous enough to earn a spot on a GL editor’s list of personal faves. Take notes: some of their picks may surprise you.

    Korres Lip Butter in Pomegranate

Jess, the fashion editor here at GL, loves this balm for her lips – “Great moisturizer for day; so easy to layer on for deeper color at night. And, it doubles as blush in a pinch!”

    KORRES Lip Butter, $12, sephora.com

    Mario Badescu Drying Lotion

As for skin care, Jess swears by this simple treatment – “It's like kryptonite for zits. Honest.”

Plastic Bottle Drying Lotion, $17, ulta.com

Gabriel Color Mascara in Black Brown

About her go-to mascara, Jess says, “It's a natural formula that still results in lush lashes. I've tried so many, and this one is my current fave.”

    Gabriel Mascara, $16, gabrielcosmeticsinc.com

    MAC Cosmetics Blush in Blushbaby

For her face, Jess uses this gorgeous blush from MAC: “It's the perfect shade of pinky nude that gives a great flush without looking overdone.”

    MAC Powder Blush, $21, macys.com

  • 5e.png

    Complex 15 moisturizer

Karen, GL’s Editor-in-Chief, loves this brand for her skin because “both the body and face lotion are awesome, they keep my sensitive skin totally moisturized. The best part? Each is under $10.”

Complex 15 Therapeutic Moisturizing Face Cream, $7, walgreens.com

  • 6e.png

    Aveda Lipgloss

Karen can’t resister her all time fave lipgloss from Aveda: "I keep trying new kinds, but this is simply the best.”

    Nourish-mint rehydrating lip glaze, $18, aveda.com

  • 7e.png

    Lipsmackers

One of Karen’s must-haves is something you probably all have in your makeup drawer: Lip Smackers. “So many flavors, so much fun, could never pick just one. Have loved them all my life.”

Strawberry Kiwi Original Lip Smacker, $3, lipsmacker.com

  • 8e.png

    Blowpro Dry Shampoo

Marketing Manager and Assistant Beauty Editor Kelsey can’t live without this hair product. “I shudder to think of my hair routine before this revolutionary invention. A few puffs of Blowpro Faux Dry Shampoo make a blowout last for days or adds a bit of body and texture to a simple pony.”

Blowpro Faux Dry Shampoo, $20, ulta.com

  • 9e.png

    Glossy balms

About her favorite lip product, Kelsey says “A lip balm's texture and moisture + just a hint of pretty color = glossy balm. Plenty of beauty brands make them now, but my absolute favorite is Clinique Chubby Stick.”

CLINIQUE Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm, $17, sephora.com

  • 10e.png

    Bacitracin

Kelsey’s next pick may seem a little unusual at first, but there’s a method to the madness. “Yes, I'm referring to the antibiotic ointment. I keep one in my purse at all times—it's the best-ever cuticle cream (especially for a nail-biter like me) and clears up even the most stubborn breakouts. Plus, a dab on lips or eyelids works as a soft-and-subtle gloss.”

    Bacitracin Ointment, $6, cvs.com

  • 11e.png

    Hawaiian Hair Mask

As for her go-to hair smoother, Kelsey says “I love a luxe hair treatment—and hydration is so important for hair health. Apply plenty to damp strands from roots to tips, then let it sit for 15 minutes. Aim for once a week and air-dry after if ya can. Try Alba Botanica Hawaiian Deep Conditioning Minute Mask in So Smooth Gardenia.”

Hawaiian deep conditioning minute mask, $9, albabotanica.com

    All covered up concealer

Karmen, the online contributing editor here at GL, has a fave concealer she just can’t give up. “I've tried just about every concealer under the sun to cover up dark circles. Nothing conceals and blends as smoothly as this.”

All Covered Up Concealer, $10, target.com

  • 13e.png

    NVEY ECO Fluid Foundation

For her face, Karmen uses this eco-friendly product. “Fluid foundation is amazing in general, but I'm so thrilled that this one is 100% organic. It smoothes out all my blemishes and hydrates my skin”

NVEY ECO Moisture Rich Fluid Foundation, $28, ulta.com

  • 14e.png

    Topshop Magic Liner

About her daily eye look, Karmen says “The cat eye has been my signature look for years. Of all the liners I've tried, this one goes on the smoothest.”

    Topshop Magic Liner, $13, nordstroms.com

  • 16e.png

    ClearlySheer Sunny Days Lotion

Coppertone ClearlySheer Sunny Days Lotion SPF 30, $9, amazon.com

St. Ives Blemish Control Apricot Scrub

Senior Editor Trish’s first pick is her favorite face wash: “There’s just something so refreshing about it. Not a day goes by when I’m not using it to wash my face.”

Blemish and Blackhead Control Apricot Scrub, $5, cvs.com

  • 18e.png
