Feel-Good Friday: World Cup superstars show they're winners on and off the field

James Rodriguez, the 22-year-old cute Colombian midfielder, was a star player this World Cup, until his team was beaten by Brazil in the semi-finals.

Colombia was knocked out of the cup, losing 2-1 against Brazil despite their drive towards the end of the game with Rodriguez’s sixth and final goal of the tournaments, the most of the competition so far.

After the ref called time, the crowds burst in to cheers over a Brazilian victory, while Rodriguez burst in to tears. Unable to contain his devastation over the loss, Rodriguez was consoled by some unlikely companions: David Luiz and Dani Alves, two star players on Brazil.

Luiz led the applause for Rodriguez as he walked off the field, embracing the young player and leaning in to his ear, telling him words of encouragement.

“He congratulated me for my World Cup," Rodriguez said. "He told me I was a good player.”

After comforting his competitor, Luiz initiated an exchange of jerseys, one of the greatest signs of respect for soccer players to express to one another. This touching moment is a prime example of good sportsmanship, especially between such internationally recognized competitors. Check out the aww-worthy videos below and be sure to get your tissues ready!

Brazil later went on to lose in the semi-finals against Germany, but you can catch them in the third place match against the Netherlands tomorrow.

You let her BFF borrow your fave top for a party last Saturday but when she returns it, it looks nothing like the top you remember buying. It has holes, stains and only one shoulder. What do you say to your gal pal?
