5 ways to win your new teacher over

Say buh-bye to pink slips and lunch detention! Last year may have been kind of rocky, but now you’ve got a fresh start. From being on-time to learning your manners in class, here’s how to stay trouble-free and win over your brand new teacher.

Front and center

Though the back-of-the-room seats may seem like coolest, the front of the room is where it’s at. Opt for a seat in plain sight so you won’t be tempted to desk text and doze off while the teacher is talking.

Timing counts

Was tardiness an issue last year? Try setting two alarms: one to wake up and one to let you know when to leave your house. Kiss your bus-chasing days goodbye and prepare to be the first one in homeroom every AM!

Speak out

Okay, so everyone has experienced those awkward moments when the teacher asks a question and nobody responds. This year, silence those cricket chirps and raise your hand. Even if you’re not totally sure of the answer, your teacher will appreciate the effort.

Lend a hand

Teachers love handy helpers, so why not be that girl? Offer to pass out papers or walk the attendance to the front office. These tiny tasks are no brainers and won’t take up much of your time. Plus, they score major brownie points, or just leave you feeling good for helping out someone else.

Mind your manners

Remembering to say “please” and “thank you” goes such a long way! Teachers work super hard and your gratitude means so much to them. In addition to being respectful to adults, be sure to treat your fellow classmates with kindness. You may think that teachers aren’t always watching, but they totally notice.
