Dancing with the Stars

I confess. My guilty pleasure? Any show or movie where stars break out into random dance scenes.

Obviously, it is no shock then that I am addicted to Dancing with the Stars, which just began it’s new season this past Tuesday night. Did you watch?

Love is in the air this season as two real-life couples are competing. Professional dancers Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Karina Smirnoff will be battling it out with their star partners. And singer Chuck Wicks and two-time Dancing champ Julianne Hough will hit the dance floor as a team.  Aside from the fact that I’m a huge country music fan, this duo definitely has my vote! Did you see the chemistry in the ballroom?

My least fave part of the entire thing, however, is having to listen to the criticism from the judges. Did anyone else notice that they are being particularly harsh this season? I mean, yes, Holly Madison (aka the Playboy model) only had four days to practice, but why did she receive such a high score compared to others? And, I know the judges swore they were only scoring based on what they saw, but are you telling me that their sympathy for Melissa Rycroft, the former Bachelor choice who was dumped on national TV last week, did not play into the cards? I don’t think so.

Other shocks to the cast include Lawrence Taylor, the NFL Hall of Famer and Steve Wozniak, the über nerd who is hard on his feet, yet a pleasure to watch. But who cares how he dances? The guy is the co-founder of Apple after all.  There’s also actress Denise Richards, who already broke into tears, MTV’s wild boy Steve-O and David Alan Grier, who supplies us with much needed comic relief. Added on to that is gold medal Olympian Shawn Johnson, singer Belinda Carlisle from the Go-Go’s, risqué rapper Lil’ Kim, and Gilles Marini, who has made appearances in Ugly Betty and Criminal Minds.

Be sure to check out Dancing with the Stars Mondays at 8 p.m. on ABC. Who will you be routing for? Let us know!
