American Idol Recap: Who's Out?

My picks for the bottom 3 were almost completely on target, except for one result that left my jaw hitting the floor—Matt Giraud was asked to make his way to the center of the stage, could this be happening!? Matt’s performance of “Lets Get It On” had me (and the judges) thinking that he was definitely going to slide through to the next round. So imagine my surprise when Matt was announced to have received a low number of votes out of the 36 million who dialed. C’mon America!
The shocking news did not come until after an upbeat Motown medley performance by the Top 10, closely followed by Season 2 winner, Reuben Studdard, singing his new single “Together”.

It was then revealed that Adam Lambert was through to the next round, along with Kris Allen and Lil Rounds. As the tension continued to mount, Joss Stone and Smokey Robinson took over the stage singing “You’re the One for Me”. To be honest, I could hardly concentrate as I waited for Ryan to spill the news regarding the fate of the rest of the idols. Finally, Michael Sarver and Scott MacIntyre joined Matt and the remaining contestants.

America was also able to relax a bit with an energetic performance by Stevie Wonder himself, singing hits such as “My Cherie Amour” and “Superstition”.
The show came to an end with Michael Sarver’s last and final rendition of “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg”, after which Simon announced that the judges would not be saving him and alas Michael’s journey on American Idol ended.

The results show definitely left my heart beating fast, but overall I was satisfied and relieved to see that Matt Giraud had made it to the top 9. What did you girlies think of Michael Sarver leaving? Do you agree with America’s vote for the bottom 3? Let us know!
