American Idol Recap: And then there were 7

Millions voted and one would get the boot from the talented crew, but who?! The top 8 got together one last time with their rendition of “Can’t Get You out Of My Head” from ’02, which was also the year of the first season of the American Idol phenomenon.

The viewers, as well as the judges, were surprised by a performance from Frankie Valli singing “Venus.” I relaxed for a bit to watch the smooth intro, but the butterflies soon returned as Ryan pulled out his card to announce the first of the bottom 3. Adam Lambert, Kris Allen and Anoop Desai stood up to await their fate. After a few tense seconds Adam and Kris were safe and Anoop was forced to face the stools.

My anxiety was once again calmed by an upbeat performance by Flo Rida singing “Right Round.” This def got my adrenaline pumping and I started to feel like I was at a concert rather than watching the elimination show.

Next to stand were Danny Gokey and Matt Giraud who both quickly found out that they would be returning next week to the top 7 (phew!).  Scott MacIntyre wasn’t so fortunate, as he was asked to join Anoop and make his way across the stage.

One more spot on the bottom 3 was open to either Allison Irahetta or Lil Rounds. It could totally go either way! After slight hesitation, Ryan calmed Allison’s fears and Lil was told to have a seat with fellow bottom three-ers, Anoop and Scott.

Kelly Pickler season 5 Idol country singer performed her song “Best Days of Your Life.” It was quite entertaining and Kelly was her quirky, bubbly self just like the old days.

So who would go home or possibly be saved by the judges? Lil was called back to safety first, and it was a showdown between Scott and Anoop. Both guys are super likeable so it was def a tough choice. Finally, Ryan sent Anoop back to join the rest of the idols and Scott was left to stand alone. Ultimately, Simon said that the judges were split 50/50, but they would not be saving him. I’m sad to see Scott go, but I agree with Paula that he has been a true inspiration throughout this competition.

And then there were 7! Did you girlies think Anoop should have been sent packing? What were your picks for the bottom 3? Tell us your thoughts!
