Lip Sitch

I have hair on my upper lip. It is so embarrassing. I try to hide it by biting my nails but I can't do that the rest of my life! I want it all off, but how? Please help!

You seriously tug on my heartstrings with this one. Being hairy is the worst. You and I are in the same boat; I’m seriously convinced that I could pass as Big Foot’s sister. In fact, I met my BFF because of my girlstache. A boy on my bus was making fun of me and she threatened to beat him up if he didn’t stop. We have been friends ever since.

It’s important to remember that most of the time people don’t notice any peach fuzz you may be sporting. Sometimes if you have darker hair it shows up a little bit but it may just be that only YOU take notice to it. Everyone has peach fuzz, we are mammals—it kinda comes with the territory. Add hormones to mix, and things get a li’l wacky.

I know what it is like to be worried that someone is looking at you funny, but you can’t go around covering your mouth with your hand for the rest of your life (believe me I used to pull the same move.)

Luckily, there are a bunch of things you can do for yourself to remedy this sitch. One is bleaching. As long as you don’t have a really thick layer of hair, bleaching it will cover it up and nobody will notice. But if you naturally just have thicker hair, I suggest you try an alternative option, like waxing. I am not going to lie, it DOES sting a little, but only for a second and then you’re as smooth as a babies’ bottom for weeks at a time. I have found that the more I wax, the thinner the hair becomes.

Consider all of these options and then consult your mom. I am sure that she wouldn’t want you suffering any discomfort at school. My mom knows that I have a huge thing about body hair and she was willing to let me get it waxed because it gave me peace of mind. Good Luck!

JANA
