Eek! What Am I Doing To My Skin?

I have these weird bumps on my legs. They are very annoying because now I never wear shorts, short shorts, or any type of skirts.  I will only wear pants, capris or a skirt with leggings. I'm too self-conscious to wear the clothes I want to! Is there any way of making these mysterious bumps to go away?

If not, how can I make myself feel better in clothes that show them?

Hey Chica,

I think you're talking about razor burn, here. And don't worry, everybody gets some razor bumps from time to time. Like other beauty issues, you just need to know what to do about it to keep it from ruining your summer!

Razor burn is really just the little cuts, nicks, and ingrown hairs you get from shaving, so that's where you're gunna take care of this. Head to the bath and use a loofah sponge on any existing bumps. Make sure its soft and soapy - nothing too harsh. After you're all loofah'ed up, do your normal shower routine. The longer you're in the bath or shower, the more your skin relaxes and your pores open up - that makes it easier to shave, pluck, and primp anything you need to.

From there, it's time to shave. Make sure your razor isn't dull, and you might wanna try to get the new cool razors with the soap strip built into them. Plus, soap up your legs with enough shaving gel or cream that it cushions your skin- that part is really important since we girlies sometimes shave so hard and don't even realize we're doing it!

When you're out of the shower, lotion up with your moisturizer of choice. If you don't have one yet, try check out this link RIGHT HERE for the lowdown on all different types!

You should be totally ready for those summer shorts and skirts now. If you still have mysterious bumps, see a doc. Have a great summer, girl!
